Cultivate Gratitude

Updated on February 5, 2016

Motion that effects Emotion

A simple Thank You

Yes, cultivate Gratitude, don’t be shy, you will receive more in return, amazingly lots of people don’t know how to express a simple Thank You. It is the flow of life to give and to receive, if you think of when you pay in the store, you are receiving something in return. Be humble and give thanks whether to the cashier at the till, the storekeeper, when someone let’s you into the flow of traffic give a wave, a simple acknowledgement. Even a simple smile makes such a difference; if you look at children they laugh and smile so easily.

So be thankful when someone gives you a present or wants to treat you for lunch, a drink or tea and cake. Nothing is more hurtful when you see someone’s reaction on opening a present and they don’t appreciate it. I have to admit I am guilty of this, many a times I have got a present and thought “oh no what a waste of money”. I know do appreciate and am thankful for all that I receive including all those life lessons that are thrown in amongst that. It’s all about learning from them to move forward in life.

I love this quote I came across after writing this hub from Swami Sivananda Radha, her book called Seeds of Light, a wonderful inspiring book. "Cultivate Gratitude and never be too shy to express it".

Artistic Positive Signs

Gratitude: A Way of Life
Gratitude: A Way of Life

This is the wonderful book I describe above with all these positive messages on how to bring gratitude into your life, to re-awaken it and practice it daily.

Things to be Grateful for

I have been blessed I found this wonderful book from “Louise Hay and friends called “Gratitude A Way of Life”. My dad had a triple bypass heart surgery last December; this book was my little good luck charm. It got me through all those waiting rooms, sitting there I read this book that so inspired me to manage through all the things needed, sorting out things.

I thank God for all the lessons he has put in my way so that I could learn from that and be a better person. I have more compassion, patience, understanding, I believe again and have faith that all will be well now and all things work out. I also don’t judge people; I stop myself and say they are doing the best they can at this moment in time.

The funniest story in this book is about this grandmother that says thank you God even when she burns her finger and she teaches her grandson to say it as well. So be thankful for the bad as well as all the good things in life.

I acquired these positive signs; from an artistic wire seller they are so inspiring.

Joy

Love

Believe

Anyways to get back to they story, my parrot was sitting next to me by the computer, one of the signs “Joy” is on my desk, my Senegal Parrot Syd picked up this sign of joy and threw at me. He was trying to give me a message to take a moment and see the joy in the moment. Just looking at him at time brings me great joy. Sometimes we need to pause and take that moment and be in the now and see all those precious things around us and be thankful for all our blessings.

Cultivate Gratitude

How I get my ego to work with Gratitude

  1. Find 3 things to be grateful for when I wake up.
  2. In traffic I see the beauty around.
  3. I look for the good in a person.
  4. In lousy weather I see the beauty of nature in all states.
  5. I look for the lesson in difficulties faced, how it serves you.
  6. I find the humour in a situation.
  7. I look for the divine in all people and in the Universe.
  8. I see the beauty in the moment the wonder and contentment.
  9. Take time to watch a bee on a flower, any animal or insect or person.
  10. Be true to myself.

"Love is the way I walk in Gratitude".

In all things give thanks.

Some magical inspirations on Gratitude

The Secret Gratitude Book
The Secret Gratitude Book

From the writer of the Secret Rhonda Byrne this Gratitude book is full of affirmations and insights that allow you to bring joy and harmony to every aspect of your life.Every day you write a list of things you are grateful for now in your life in the present moment, followed by a list of Gratitude Intentions all the things you want to come into your life.. You can use The Secret Gratitude Book to powerfully attract specific things that you want into your life in absolute abundance.

Count Your Blessings

If we only give thanks for things that we think are beautiful or that come easily that is okay but not the way to go. You also need to give thanks when things go wrong, see the lesson and count your blessings.

You can start your day with counting your blessings, or think of a few things that you are grateful for, your everyday things. You can also look back over your life and think of all the things you have accomplished or all the things you are still going to accomplish and give thanks for that. If you need to find ways, start off from childhood think of people that you have learnt from, your teachers, your friends, families, the list goes on, you will find hundreds or thousands of things to be grateful for.

You can look on all your problems as your teacher, find that lesson in it and be grateful to the universe for creating this opportunity for you to learn and move forward in life. We are all so blessed in life with the people in it, around us, the beautiful countries we live in, nature, the animal life. If you hear a bird singing his heart out in the garden, just listen, that is counting your blessings as well.

Great message here! There is so much in life to be grateful for, especially the little things. Your philosophy here directly relates to HubPages as well! If we appreciate someone's work, we can show gratitude by voting, commenting and SHARING! Nice Hub. Voted and SHARING!

Nice article roc! very nicely expressed also. I specially liked this one.

I enjoyed you call it funniest. Indeed once you accept things with gratitude one can enjoy any thing. In India there is an ancient saying, "what ever you get just consider it as God's prasad (sweets given by God) and feel happy with it."

Being thankful and showing gratitute can definitely make one's life. However, it does not come easily, as we find it much easier to blame situations/people. Well written article.
