Cures for Pimples

Updated on February 7, 2011

If you are looking for cures for pimples, you’ve come to the right place. Pimples are, quite simply, not a pretty thing to have. They are the same thing as acne except for the fact that they acne consists of many pimples at the same time, whereas a pimple is just that, an occasional pimple or zit.

Benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid for curing pimples

First of all, it’s crucial that you don’t pop it. When you pop it your risk spreading the infection and/or getting a scar. You may already know that when you pop a pimple, although you’ve gotten rid of some of it, it doesn’t completely go away. At the very least, there is going to be redness remaining. Before you apply a topical cream, wash your zit(s) with lukewarm medicated water, preferably using medicated soap. The reason you want to clean the infected area is so that your skin is oil free enough to allow the topical cream cure for pimple be absorbed into your skin. Once you’re done cleaning the infected area, apply either benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, which are the two most often used ingredients in pimple cream medications. Salicylic acid works by slowing down the shedding of the skin cells inside our hair follicles, which clump up and result in pimples. Benzoyl peroxide works the same way as its salicylic acid counterpart. Because we all have different skin types, what works for one may not work for another. As such, if salicylic acid does not work out, try benzoyl peroxide or vice versa. If you are using benzoyl peroxide, keep in mind that 2.5% is strong enough. There are stronger solutions, just keep in mind that the higher the percentage is, the more irritated your skin will be, which can make the pimple even worse. Once you’re done applying one of the two types of topical creams, it is a good idea to apply a moisturizer because, following the treatment, your skin will likely be very dry. Here are some brand name examples available for each of the cures for pimples…

The medicated soap (Provon Medicated Lotion Soap)

Benzoyl Peroxide (PanOxyl Acne Facial Wash 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide) or salicylic acid (Salicylic Acid 20% Gel Peel)

Moisturizer (H2O Plus Face Oasis® Hydrating Treatment)
