Cutting And Dissociative Identity Disorder Someone Who Is A Cutter

Cutting And Killing The Pain

Cutting And Killing The Pain

Many people suffer from many forms of depression. Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). Are people who suffer from multiple personalities. They use cutting as a form of dealing with their pain.

Why do people cut themselves? Sounds very strange doesn't it ? If you know someone who is cutting themselves, you need to confront the situation and try and get help.

Here are some of the reasons why:

1. Deserve it- Many people cut after reaching a point in sorrow, this is reasonable for them. It makes them realize through the pain and blood they can still feel something. They feel they deserve it.

2. Control- Some people cut to be in control. They feel like they are finally in control of something through the pain.

3. Low self worth- They don't feel like anyone really loves them or cares, it is a cry for help.

This is a very sad and dark form of depression. There is help available and treatment options.

Teenagers are on the rise for cutting. Peer pressure and the need to belong, if you know a teenager that needs help you can go to It is a residential treatment center that deals with this disorder and many more. This disorder comes to heart for me because my mother used to cut herself. It's hard facing mental illness also some people may also cut themselves because they may have been molested in the past. Not all cutters are molested but the ones that were and haven't told anyone about it. They will cut to relieve the pain from the memories of the past. They can't deal in present time. The cutting represents the pain being released.

Multiple personality disorders are affiliated with cutting as well. No one deserves feeling this way. My mother now is mentally stable and on a medication that helps her brain function normally. She had a chemical inbalance and is no longer cutting herself. I think everyone can go thru depression but this is a much more deeper level. The person who is cutting will not be able to stop and invalidating them will not get into thier reality. My mother did not want to talk to a therapist. She only wanted to talk to her priest. This is how I got her the help she needed. I took her to a hospital which had a physciatric unit, this is where she was admitted. The only way I could get her help is because she was harming herself. It is extremely hard to have someone committed when they do not want the help.

Mentally ill people do not think anything is wrong, there is always an excuse for their behavior. They have their own reality. I did allot of praying and soul searching at this time. My mother needed the help years ago but no one wanted to confront she had a problem. She dressed well, kept her hair and make-up nice. She was in charge of the finances. She was responsible as an adult but mentally impaired. I went to probate, no one would help me. I had to have witnesses. My brother didn't want to be bothered. Family and friends were drawn away over the years. It's sad but no one wants to be around a crazy person. I got to a point in my life where I didn't want to be involved with her either. I was in church one day and realized I had to forgive her because it's not her fault. She has a chemical in balance and this needed to be addressed. So if someone is reading this thinking should I ? Yes, confront it and the situation will change and things will get better.

Celebraties Who Used To Cut Themselves

Angelina Jolie admitted in an interview that she was suffering from depression and used to cut herself in the past. This is in no way, shape, or form to glamorize this disorder. Movie stars are real people with real problems as well. I am happy that she is well now and wish her the best.

There is help available.  There are support groups and seeking out God can help.

I worked with the Youth Offending Team for six years and ran a bail hostel. However even though I brought the subject up we never had any training on how to cope with self harming.

I did have to deal with a case once and thankfully I happened to say the correct words.

HP with articles such as yours would have been so useful back then.

Thank you for sharing this brilliant hub and auseful and up here.

      Take care
