Daily Inspirations for the mind, body and spirit

In our every day busy life we must remember to take care of ourselves. It is important to step back once and a while during the day or week to at least take a deep breath and be still for a few moments. We live in a noisy world and sometimes it can be difficult to turn down but it is possible and there are reminders every where, but we tend to be in the "do" mode more than living and "being". Remember take five minutes for yourself.

Here a few daily inspirations and loving ways to keep the body, mind and spirit in alignment with your authentic and divine self. Enjoy!

Express Gratitude

Each morning before you start your day (getting up, jumping into the shower, having coffee, you know your routine), either write in a daily journal what you are grateful for. I like to write something like "I am truly grateful to be alive today to experience all the wisdom that surrounds me, I am grateful to accept the daily gifts of today". It feels good to begin each morning with positive words and affirmations.

Meditation

Practice a form of meditation or prayer for five minutes each morning. Some forms of meditations can practice up to an hour and half each morning, but five to fifteen minutes in the morning does the trick. If you have a candle, light your candle and sit comfortably in front of the candle, take three deep breaths. Breath out your thoughts and fears that might be coming up and let whatever your are thinking be there just as they are. Don't worry that you have rambling thoughts, we can not stop our thoughts we can be aware of them, but we don't have to "hook" into the thoughts. Taking deep breaths tricks the mind into not thinking but to breathe and over time your mind will be still and you will feel more relaxed every time you practice your meditation. It's not an over night fix, but a tool to help you with your daily interactions.

Morning Smoothie

Each morning try a different kind of smoothie to kick start your metabolism. Smoothie's can be as simple as:

1-2 cups of water

1/2 cup of berries

1 apple

teaspoon of Acai powder or cinnamon

Blend until smooth and "Cheers" to the day!

Oriental Ginseng

Panax ginseng has been used in the far east for centuries to stimulate energy and strengthen the mind. It's usually combined with other herbs in a tea or capsule form, which gently boosts the body's energy levels.

Rosemary for Remembrance

Not only a great herb for culinary delights. This pungent fragrant medicinal herb is a universal favorite for boosting memory and mental performance. Rosemary is available in the forms of essential oil, capsules, tincture, or loose leaf and may also be used fresh or dried in your favorite dishes.

Make yourself a Treat

Do you have a chocolate craving? Here is an easy tasty fudge recipe you can freeze and when you need a little chocolate you'll have a cold, chocolaty treat.

1 can of low fat condensed evaporated milk

2 cups of semi sweet chocolate chunks

1 teaspoon of Vanilla

heat ingredients in a pot on a very low setting. Stir together until smooth, then in a 9x9 pan pour, smooth over and put in fridge to cool and set. Cut into 1 inch squares and put in a freezer container and place into the freezer for those chocolate cravings! (You can also add some walnuts or your favorite nut for a little more variety)

Postive Affirmations

If your driving to and from work repeat some positive affirmations to yourself like

"I am happy and healthy and love myself"

"There is a divine plan of goodness for me"

Maybe borrow an affirmations CD from your local library to play in the car or in the kitchen when preparing meals.

Learn a new skill, pick up a hobby or take a class

Spread Loving Energy

Hug someone everyday. Energy has a rebound effect. When you give, it returns to brighten your mind, body and spirit.

Splash cold water on your face and run your hands under the cold water for a quick fresh pick me up.

Dance like no one is watching!

Spread the power of random acts of kindness. If you're in a coffee shop or drive through pay for a coffee for the person behind you.

Buy yourself some flowers, bright flowers on your dinning table will create a loving and welcoming feeling.

Wrap your arms around yourself and give yourself a loving big hug. You deserve it!
