Dangers of Pork

Updated on August 31, 2017

No Piggy For Me Thanks!

People ask me all the time, Why don't you eat Pork? ...Is it Religious reasons? ...Are you Vegetarian?

I use to eat Pork...till I started hearing and reading things I did not want to hear! So I did research for myself and I'll NEVER eat pork again!

Reason? - believe Pork to be an unhealthy choice!

Should we be eating Pork?

PIGS are SCAVENGERS and will eat ANY kind of food, INCLUDING dead insects, worms, rotting carcasses, excreta including their own, garbage, and other pigs.

There are many diseases carried from swine to man, particularly parasite infestations.

Influenza (flu) is one of the most famous illnesses which pigs share with humans. This illness is harbored in the lungs of pigs during the summer months and tends to affect pigs and humans in the cooler months. Sausage contains bits of pigs' lungs, so those who eat pork sausage tend to suffer more during epidemics of influenza.

Pork Sausage

When it comes to meats, sausage is probably one of the worst offenders. Sausage, especially pork sausage, is loaded with undesirable, unhealthy fat. Often, it is also heavily processed and seasoned with spices and chemicals. The European Food Safety Authority recently found that a red food colouring in cheap sausages could also cause cancer.

Bacon and Salami

Bacon is so tasty. However, what makes it so tasty is the high amounts of fat and salt it has. Bacon is one of the meats containing the highest fat content. It is also cured with chemicals and preservatives. Salami is just as bad as bacon, as it is cured with the same chemicals. You know it's fatty, because you can obviously see the white fat, marbled throughout the slices of pepperoni.

FACT: Pigs do not have sweat glands. Therefore toxins are not eliminated.

I also heard/read that Pigs are biologically similar to humans, and their meat is said to taste similar to human flesh....disturbingly gross!!! Ewwww!

FIRST TV INTERVIEW WITH GERMAN CANNIBAL 'Human Flesh Tastes Like Pork'

Pigs have been used for dissection in biology labs due to the similarity between their organs and human organs. People with insulin-dependent diabetes usually inject themselves with pig insulin.

Pork & Parasites

Pork is known for its living parasites.

We tend to think of parasites as something people pick up when they travel in some third world country, but parasites are far more common in the "civilized" world than people imagine.

Eating pork is often a direct route to becoming infected with parasites. Pork often carries parasites, some of which can survive even the high temperatures of grilling.

The parasite, known as cysticercosis, lives in pork tissue. Eating raw or inadequately cooked meat, especially pork. The larvae are released, reach maturity, and mate in the intestines, the females producing live larvae. The parasites are then carried from the gastrointestinal tract by the bloodstream to various muscles, where they become encysted.

Parasites are difficult to diagnose and even medical doctors miss them. However, if you have vague health problems that have not been resolved after much effort, one possible cause may be parasites. Some parasites attach themselves to the intestinal lining with suction or teeth. If they migrate out of the intestine into other parts of the body they can cause unexpected serious health problems.

Trichinosis Worm

Trichinosis, also called trichinellosis, or trichiniasis, is a parasitic disease caused by eating raw or undercooked pork and wild game infected with the larvae of a species of roundworm Trichinella spiralis, commonly called the trichina worm. The few cases in the United States are mostly the result of eating undercooked game, bear meat, or home reared pigs. It is most common in the developing world and where pigs are commonly fed raw garbage.

Swine Influenza (Flu)

The human swine flu outbreak continues to grow...

The outbreak of disease in people caused by a new influenza virus of swine origin continues to grow in the United States and internationally. Today, CDC reports additional confirmed human infections, hospitalizations and the nation's first fatality from this outbreak. The more recent illnesses and the reported death suggest that a pattern of more severe illness associated with this virus may be emerging in the U.S. Most people will not have immunity to this new virus and, as it continues to spread, more cases, more hospitalizations and more deaths are expected in the coming days and weeks.

Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Swine influenza (also swine flu) refers to influenza caused by any strain of the influenza virus endemic in pigs (swine). Strains endemic in swine are called swine influenza virus (SIV).

Swine flu is common in swine and rare in humans. People who work with swine, especially people with intense exposures, are at risk of catching swine influenza if the swine carry a strain able to infect humans. However, these strains rarely are able to pass from human to human. Rarely, SIV mutates into a form able to pass easily from human to human. The strain responsible for the 2009 swine flu outbreak in humans is believed to have undergone such a mutation.

Raw Pork & Coke = Worms ?

Have you tried this test?

Why Muslims don't eat Pork

Both the Bible and the Qur'an prohibit the eating of pork. Muslims are aware of this prohibition and observe it strictly.

Pork prohibited in Qur'an

The Qur'an prohibits the consumption of pork in no less than 4 different places. It is prohibited in 2:173, 5:3, 6:145 and 16:115.

"Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah." [Al-Qur'an 5:3]

The above verses of the Holy Qur'an are sufficient to satisfy a Muslim as to why pork is forbidden.

Is Pork Forbidden to Muslims Only?

The Jews and Christians are also forbidden from eating pork.

Pork prohibited in the Bible

In the Old Testament

Leviticus 11:7-8

7"And the pig, though it has a split hoof completely divided, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you.8You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you."

Deuteronomy 14:7-8

7"However, of those that chew the cud or that have a split hoof completely divided you may not eat the camel, the rabbit or the coney. That is, the hyrax or rock badger Although they chew the cud, they do not have a split hoof; they are ceremonially unclean for you.8The pig is also unclean; although it has a split hoof, it does not chew the cud. You are not to eat their meat or touch their carcasses."

Then, in Isaiah 65:2-4, and 66:17, God issues a stern warning against those who eat pork.

It is debated in The New Testament rather or not pork is still forbidden.

Myself, I don't believe it is a "Sin" to eat pork! Just believe it to be an unhealthy choice.

@anonymous: Personally I don't eat anything listed as unclean in Scripture, which includes catfish, shrimp, etc.. (Leviticus 11; Deuteronomy 14). If it is sanctified by the Word of God as being okay to eat (Lev 11; Deut 14), then I will pray over it, and eat it (1 Timothy 4:5).

yea we read the bible, yea we heard of not eating pork, but didn't we also hear about a lot of things we shouldn't eat..ie catfish..etc. so why of all the unclean things listed do we find the pig to be the only one that matters...and these days almost all animal foods are fed a different diet from your usual slop that pigs would eat if they wonder free. do we have a problem with eating arsenic?

The MEETRIX video is a great tool to help ingorant meat eaters know

why eating meat is bad, think of all the shit from the animals? Our earth was not disigned to get rid of feceses from all these animals being raised.

It is not possible to continue farming this way and also keep the earth healthy

      Man is destroying the world.

You can probably make anything taste half-way decent if you throw enough salt and spice on it.... I used to eat nasty filthy swine years ago until I learned of God's health laws, which were designed for our well-being. Scientific proof continues to back up the Bible, even if it is thousands of years late in doing so.

Thanks for the profitable lens... I'll never eat the filthy stuff again....

Didn't you learn all this in biology class in high school. That's why you cook meat well done and not eat it raw. Cooking does kill worms and parasites.

and by the way, most insulin taken by diabetics now is HUMAN insulin, made through genetic engineering of bacteria. Granted, having human insulin is better than having pig insulin simply because we're not pigs--but you'd rather have insulin made by Frankengerms?

You know, I think grass is disgusting too, and would never eat it. It's completely unpalatable. I'd have to be starving. But cows eat grass, and I eat cows. That's the beautiful thing about eating animal, you can get nutrition from things you can't or shouldn't ever eat for yourself. For example, the only way I could ever eat poison ivy (not that I'd want to) would be by eating goat. Which I have also done.

If there's anything unhealthy about pig fat it's that it's so high in polyunsaturated fatty acids, so it's best eaten as an extra, not as a main source of fat. But lard in particular is high in vitamin D, which is GOOD for you. As for the meat, probably the reason it tastes so close to human (I wouldn't know) is that both pigs and humans are omnivores.

You know, you can get flu from chickens too. Do you eat chicken? I bet you do. Have you seen what a chicken eats when it's allowed to run around outside? Wow.

Hey, whatever. More for me. And pity the poor weak Europeans who have been eating pork since time out of mind and now there are barely any left with no political power or national strength at all.

You are absolutely right ! I remember with horror the days of "pig killing" in my grandma's village ...It is a great festival in South Hungary in winter ... but some people changed it into turkey raising after so many family members died early in heart disease ..

Did you mention Japanese flu ? It attacks the brain and kills so many kids who die in a very painful way ...Some years ago there was an outbreak in India ... and it is also mainly spread by pigs ....

We wish to take issue with your comments related to Pork, both from a modern day perspective and Biblically.

Specific to modern day Pork, from my perspective as a consumer, feeder, Pork farm contractor, processor and marketer of niche commodity Pork and specialty Natural Pork, domestically and internationally:

Contrary to your comments it is illegal to feed garbage. Additionally American Pork Producers go to great hygiene lengths to insure that pork they produce for consumers is lean and healthy. As an added caveat the pork we produce is Certified Humanely Raised, never fed animal by-products, fed only a vegetarian diet, raised without the use of antibiotics, no pesticides, a 100% USA product, no nitrates, nor artificial ingredients and minimally processed.

Our pork is also produced using a Processed Verified Program, wherein any pork item may be traced back from any retail counter to the farm of origin.

As to your parasite comment – any undercooked, or unclean product may contain issues even produce.

Sausage: We only use pure pork, not lungs etc that you mention

Let me convey to you just some of the derived uses of swine:

      · Swine are a source of nearly 40 drugs and pharmaceuticals on the market.

      · Pig skin is used to treat massive burns in humans due to its similarity to human

      skin.

      · Swine research led to the development of the CAT scan, a technology for

      examining internal organs without surgery.

      · Life saving human heart values comes from Pigs.

Now from a Biblical perspective, as a Christian:

We take issue with the statement in quoting the Old Testament verse on eating Pork. Keeping it in context God speaks to Moses and Aaron to instruct the Israelite’s on dietary law, before the law was fulfilled through Jesus Christ.

Here is a man of God, Noah, a Gentile, the only man that was righteous at the time and was not destroyed in the flood and God tells him he may eat any creature that moves, including swine.

Genesis 9:1-3 – 1 Then God blessed Noah and his sons

Kenny, Maybe you should have read the rest of what she got. I understand your view of training a potbellied pig, but how many of us train our food before we eat it?

I appreciate your opinoins, and you are welcome to have any you choose. I however, love the taste of pork, of any kind, bacon, ausage you name it. I am afraid that I did not reed your entire blurb here but that is because it quickly became clear to me that your "facts" were based on propiganda rather than research. For instance It has my experience raising pigs, that the are particularly clean animals.

It is true that they are scavengers and will eat anything that they have available, that is true except that you include feces, pigs will actually select an area of the enclosure to use as a bathroom and tend to avoid that area unless of course they have to relieve themselves. An example of theis is the popularity of the viet-namese potbelly pig as pets. These pets have earned a reputation as a very intelligant animal and can be house broken as quickly or quicker that dogs. I will stop here but, quick suggestion, site the source of your "facts" so they can be varified.
