Kelor (Moringa oleifera) is one of the plants that can cultivate in some parts of Indonesia. The leaves are oval and small. They are arranged neatly on a stalk. Indonesian use it as vegetable.

Moringa leaf extract contains compounds that showed antibacterial properties. In a study published in Bayero Journal of Pure and Applied Sciences, moringa leaf extract inhibits the growth of microorganisms that harmfull for the body such as Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter aerogenes and Escherichia coli.

2. Lower blood pressure and cholesterol
One of the great benefits of Moringa leaves which helps maintain blood pressure and cholesterol levels. This is due to Moringa leaves contain substances hiocarbamate glycosides, nitrile and mustard oil glycosides, which helps lower blood pressure.

This recipe is very easy and there is no exact measurement to make a clear soup of Moringa leaves.

Ingredients:

a bunch of Moringa leaves

1 teaspoon of chopped shallot

1 teaspoon of chopped garlic

2 cups of water

a pinch of salt

2 Indonesian bay leaves (daun salam)

Direction:

In a small pot, bring to boil two cups of water and Indonesian bay leaves. Then add salt, garlic and shallot. Last add the Moringa leaves. Cover and boil more for about 5 minutes .

Serve it with steamed rice.

If you like creamy soup, please substitute one cup of the water with coconut milk.

Besides Indonesian style clear soup or creamy Moringa soup in coconut milk, there are several way to serve this miracle leaves such as stir-fry, making curry, green smoothie, add it into the stew or as raw salad.
