Detoxify Yourself to Conquer Stress

Updated on November 8, 2009

Has anyone told you that you need to cleanse your body just because you are feeling droopy and out of tune? Yes, it’s kind of weird but maybe that person is right! If you are feeling clogged, blown up, sluggish, miserable, weighted down, and/or stocked in a pothole, you need to do something different in order to improve those symptoms and recover your former healthy life. You need to cleanse your body and that it is time for a whole body detoxification. And though it might surprise you, of the first things that you need to work on is your stress!

As we live in a toxic age, toxins weaken our immune system or the body's way of heading off diseases. Toxic chemicals enter our bodies in the form of unhealthy and refined foods, chemical additives and environmental pollutants. Toxins can go through our bodies through the air, the food we eat, even our thoughts.

Our body is designed to utilize natural substances, which includes foods, herbs and phytochemicals. Meaning, our body detoxifies itself constantly. Detoxification is a natural process of clearing toxins from the body or neutralizing them, and clearing excess mucus and congestion to prevent build up different kinds of diseases. The trick to cleaning your body out is simple. There are steps one can begin that will put on the path to a healthier body and life.

Start by changing the way you eat. Stop eating foods containing ALL artificial ingredients. Replace any addictive drugs that you consume with fruits. When you eat fruits you'll be filled with instant energy. You should also try to cut bad food from the diet: sugar, fried foods, fast food. A healthy diet also helps in restoring the body's inner balance.

Then, you can cleanse your mind. Clearing toxins out of your mind can be as simple as going on “negativity fast”. Do your best to turn away from negativity in all forms. Negative thoughts, poor self-esteem, low self-image, anger, frustration and even pain are just as toxic as substances that can send your body into overdrive and can stress you out. Let go of negative labels and negative conditioning and boost self-confidence and wellbeing with powerful dialogue techniques which combine relaxation, reflection and creative ideas. You can try to take steps to free yourself of the past hurts and worries that continue to live with you.

Start a personal ritual, such as writing a letter (you don't have to send it!) to get out all your feelings. Or buy a beautiful journal to give yourself a regular outlet for all your emotions, regrets, and worries. Don't push these emotions away. Utilize them and move on as a smarter person.

However, detox is not and never will be an instant, magical fix. Detoxification is an ongoing process, which provides wonderful health benefits that you can enjoy starting today, by simply eating healthy, using water, and going through different and appropriate detox programs.
