Discovering Your Purpose In Life - Ways To Find Your Purpose

Updated on August 2, 2011

There are many indicators to your purpose. If you are able to answer certain questions related to life and destiny, you'll have a much greater understanding of your potential and how to maximise your life. I think most will agree with me when I say life is more than paying the bills. Also life is surely more than going school, getting a job, retiring and then dying. Some people have accepted life to be like that, whereas others brake off the bonds of mediocrity, and decide to make the most of their short time.

It takes you being very determined not to just let life go by. You can either be proactive, reactive or passive. You can make things happen, wait for things to happen or just watch things happen. I have made the choice to be proactive. I have decided that I will be the one to make things happen. What about you?

You have to stop making excuses why things are the way they are and how you have it tough in life. It's true you can't change your past but you can learn from it. You can choose your present and design your future. You are where you are today because of the choices made yesterday, and your tomorrow will be determined by the choices of today. So choose wisely.

Take charge of your life today. Refuse to allow life to take charge of you. There is courage within you that you have to bring forth, so that you may be bold to make tough decisions and make necessary changes and sacrifices. If you want to get to where you want to go, then there will be a price that you will have to pay. It may cost you money, time, convenience and energy but in the long worth will be worth every penny so to speak. It may take you coming out of your comfort zone and everything you are so familiar with. When you have set your goal, go after it with all you can.

Ways to Find Your Purpose

Of the following questions, you should take time to really think over them. Some questions will not be easier to answer as others, and will take a while to search out the answer. Some will be obvious and some will be more obscure and will take time to realise. It's important to note that your current limitations should not have influence on your answers, because there is always a way to overcome these same limitations. So be free answer as if nothing else matters.

What Is My Deepest Desire?

What are the things you want most in life? What is it you really would love to do? What is that thing you simply must do? What were the desires that were on your heart, the desires that got lost during the busy-ness of life? What are the desires that you reasoned could not be met because of such and such.

For you to be satisfied and enjoy your work, you have obviously have the desire to do it. What are your passions?

What Makes Me Angry?

What stirs up an anger within you. What do you wish you could change? Is it neglected children? Is it abused women? Is it criminals that get away with the crimes that they commit? What are the things that every time you see it, it triggers a nerve within you?

This could well be a sign of thing you were made to put right. The very thing you were called to change.

What Do You Constantly Imagine?

When you're daydreaming, what do you dream about? What you do envision for you and your life? How do you hope your life will unfold? What is that one thing that you keep saying "One day I will....?

Remember, vision is your purpose in pictures. It’s the movie of your future. What do you regularly see?

What Do You Wish You Could Do?

What are the certain skills and abilities you wish you could do or have? What problems do you see that you would love to solve? What are the ideas that persistently keep coming back to you even though you try to brush them off?

This is the voice of your inward person trying to point you the right way. Do not silence the voice because of the pressure of life. It may just lead you to where you should be.

What Brings The Greatest Fulfilment?

What is the thing that every time you do it, you find such great satisfaction? What would you rather be doing if you had the choice? What could do for no money? What could you do forever even if there was no cash reward?

Financial reward should be a bonus to the work you love to do. When you are about your purpose and maximizing your potential, you will be rewarded with more than wealth. When you focus on your destiny and vision, you will then be able to provide increasing value for others. People don't pay for average. They pay for excellence. They pay for the best. You have to strive to be the best at what you do.

In Closing

They were some of the many questions that help unveil the mystery of your purpose. As I have said before, it’s a journey of discovery. It will be the best journey you will ever make if you chose to do so.

The topic of the purpose is quite vast. Over this series I've took a snippet of what I have learned so far and compacted it into small teachings. There is so much more to learn and there is much more materials out there that will help guide you along the way. Knowing our purpose is vital if we are to become all that we were born to be. Make the choice today to discover yours, then when you have discovered it, go after it no matter what.

I enjoyed this very much. You have this laid out beautifully and it is easy to understand. Keep up the great HUBS. Up one and beautiful. I'm now your fan! I am working a series of 5 novels, “Seeds from Heaven” that touches on a lot of the things you mention. One might ask, “What would the Messiah’s message be today if he traveled the Earth during our time?” Book one is now published, “Lean against the Wind.”

Based upon this HUB, you might enjoy

Great advice! The only thing I would add is when answering those questions make sure you prioritize what is more important to you. This way if a person has any conflicting purposes they can determine which one they want the most. Voted up!
