Persistent plaque on your teeth is what happens if you neglect your teeth hygiene. Even good teeth hygiene does not guarantee good healthy result, because ordinary brushes cannot reach all areas around the tooth.

That's why, to keep your teeth healthy, you need to often visit a dentist, where your teeth are cleaned and you receive advices and help for your dental health.

Dentist will first asses your dental health and have a look at your teeth. Your plaque will be painted by a coloring agent and with a small mirror you can actually see what and where is the actual teeth plaque. This way you will know what areas of your mouth are not properly brushed.

You need to know, that plaque leads to cavities, tartar, gingivitis and more complicated problems.

Then the dentist and his nurse will explain how to keep your teeth in good condition. You may be asked to show how you clean your teeth with a dummy brush :). After this audit, you will get advices how to reach more hard areas with a brush and given advice for other possible brushes, floss cords and other tools such as small brushes for cleaning between teeth.

Manipulations often needed are:

Tartar cleaning. Between teeth and often - inside the gums. This is important. Especially if there is bleeding.

Teeth polish paste. Very often this covers some small cavities and the teeth re-mineralizes its structure so the cavity is fully healed. Also - Plaque does not fix itself well on polished surfaces.

Fluoride gel treatment. It keeps the teeth intact against acid foods and calms them if the nerve inside is hypersensitive.

Just remember:

Good teeth hygiene leads to re-mineralizing of the teeth and cavities heal by themselves. Gums will also heal in time, given good surrounding with balanced pH.

Best test for teeth health level is the visit to a professional. His and your care for the dental health is what guarantees long tooth life and pretty white smile.

Always clean the space between teeth with a dental floss and when you age, include the small brushes sold in dental stores, that clean the area between teeth more effectively.

Use fluoride paste if you tolerate it normally (ask your dentist). Best рН is between 4,8-5,5.

After thorough cleaning - don't rinse for 1-2 minutes, so the fluoride paste acts more time on your teeth and gums.

That's basically - all.

This is a very good hub. Keeping your teeth clean is very important if you want a healthy mouth! My parents never really bothered with the hygiene of their teeth and they regret it now! If you let your teeth go, disease can build up in your gums. Your teeth and your gums will decay, and eventually the damage could be irreversible. I don't think that very many people realize how serious it is.
