Updated on June 5, 2017

Is the Person Staring at You in the Mirror Unrecognizable

Oftentimes one should go inside their ark and shut the world out. To renew oneself, to regain one's strength, sense of self, and sanity as well. Especially when the person staring at you in the mirror is unrecognizable.

Have you made too many concessions? Have too many people mistaken your kindness and generosity for weakness? And in anger at your compromises or failure to remain resolute you've started to lash out. Or have you become overly aggressive. In fact, if anyone says anything to you. Are you ready to rip their heart out?

When you turn off the electronics and blanket yourself in quietness. You will be amazed at what happens. The power of silence can propel you to great depths of insight and understanding. It can also help you anchor and it's one of the awesome spiritual tools used by the mystics.

Grappling With Life's Problems Can Become Overwhelming

Grappling with life's problems and living in today's world can become overwhelming. There are numerous self-help and inspirational books you can purchase. In addition to insightful podcasts and videos available online. Which can assist you with resolving your dilemma and further help to reinforce your efforts. Plus your library branch may have some of these books, CDs, and DVDs available to check out as well.

However, if you don't feel capable of handling your issue(s) by yourself. Don't despair - you can obtain the services of a professional counselor. As a number of psychotherapists are willing to treat patients on a sliding scale. Why not schedule an appointment with one.

Your Dark Side

Consider Lamont Cranston’s Journey

In the 1994 film version of The Shadow, Lamont Cranston is a mean-spirited, arrogant, and self-centered opium kingpin who resides in the Far East.

Consequently, a mystic kidnaps him and their wills battle it out. Lamont is defeated by the mystic and surrenders his ego. He obtains redemption via the mystic’s guidance.

Over time Lamont masters the art of concentration. This skill enables him to hurl confusion across the minds of women and men. Which renders him invisible to them. After completing his training he returns to New York City. Where he launches a quest to fight crime as “The Shadow" and establishes a network of allies. Obviously, Lamont had transformed his life as well as:

Lamont Transformed His Life:

1. He surrendered his ego.

2. He connected with a mystic.

3. He mastered the art of concentration, studied martial arts, and Far Eastern mysticism.

4. He claimed and embraced his inner-self as “The Shadow.”

5. He established a network of allies to help him combat the criminals.

What Does Lamont's Transformation Mean?

1. Recognize the fact that you may not have all the answers.

2. The mystic represents your medical doctor, psychologist, minister, a shaman (healer); or your inner-self that will guide you towards the answers.

3. Learn to meditate, take walks, and better yet take an exercise class.

4. Learn to love yourself completely.

5. Build a nurturing support network or join a support group.

An Unshakable Force of Positivity

Changing a frustrating situation around to one of positivity is not an easy task. Nor will it happen overnight.

Recognize that with a lot of determination, faith, prayers, a fantastic psychotherapist, and a network of loving and encouraging friends. Combined with the daily reading of self-help and inspirational literature that you’re headed in the right direction.

In due course you will slay the negative chattering of the monkey mind. As “…Buddha described the human mind as being filled with drunken monkeys, jumping around, screeching, chattering, carrying on endlessly…1”

Before long you will learn to ignore the negative comments uttered by your family members, acquaintances, and co-workers about you and your life.

In a little while, you will behold in amazement the transformation of your former pessimistic self into an unshakable force of positivity.

In closing, one of the Merriam Webster Dictionary’s definition for the word shadow is the dark figure cast upon a surface by a body intercepting the rays from a source of light.

That certainly sounds pretty profound. What kind of shadow will you cast upon the world from now on?
