Dysgrafia and Me

Updated on October 21, 2015

It wasn't until I was an adult that I discovered I had a form of Dyslexia called Dysgrafia. Yeah, I knew it took me a little longer to discern left from right, and driving was a nightmare.

Probably why I've only had one car in my life, and that was a Gran Torino, think Starsky and Hutch that I managed to wreck at a gas station in the 8o's in Florida....

It's amazing that sometimes disabilities don't develop til late in life...of course, we have all heard about ALS hitting people late in their life, as well as other ailments..but sometimes even other kinds of disorders like dementia, schizophrenia and depression and yes, even Dyslexia or one of it's sister ailments either don't come up til later in life or aren't diagnosed until later in life...

I don't think it was discovered in my case until I was in like my late 20's or early 30's...But even at 50 something, I am not going to let any sort of ailment stop me from pursuing my dreams...

I got to thinking about this topic again because of a conversation with a friend about a situation at work where a co-worker blurted out something inappropriate...And, I know so folks at work get some what of a pass because of their ailments which may have social interaction ramifications like Asperger's or Autism...And, we are wondering if this particular person, has ADHD...

As for me, I can be hyper verbal sometimes but I don't say anything in appropriate though I do have other weird habits probably tied to my disability like shoe strings that just refuse to stay tied....or maybe, I am just lazy with that...SMILE..

But as far as life, , I do alright and manage to get around via mass transit and if asked, I tell particular love interest what's up. Though, that doesn't always work out if they are the materialistic type and don't want to see the totality of the person.

I am wondering who else in our hub world has limitations and how they deal and cope with them....
