Emotional Allergies

Updated on October 18, 2012

I would like to introduce you to the idea today of emotional allergies.

I know that there will be some of you out there that will think this theory is completely nuts. I especially can hear all the mothers across America yelling "I’ve never heard of this connection and I’m not going to believe it for a second. How completely scary to believe that a child's anaphylactic food allergies are because of "emotional stuff." I assure you however, that this article is not another way to make a mother feel guilty for her child's allergies or for your own, but to help those suffering find some relief while using a path less traveled.

Even though this is medical knowledge which is just coming to light in the medical community, I strongly believe that it's going to be the road most traveled in the future. Try to keep an open mind here and remember that it was not too long ago in our medical past that Surgeons where trying to cure headaches by boring holes in the skull with saws, picks, manual drills, or axes to cure headaches, treat mental illnesses, and bring about enlightenment. Look how far we have come since believing that evil spirits inside the body was the reason for illness, and that drilling a hole into the person's skull would release the evil spirits, thereby curing them. When you take into consideration that we used hot irons to cure hemorrhoids and the art of bloodletting to cure just about everything else, the thought of emotional allergies begins to look not so farfetched.

There are many western medical doctors who are starting to realize that there is more to the mind and body connection that meets the eye. How is it that two individuals of the same sex and age can be diagnosed with the same disease, yet one will survive and the other won't. What is the deciding factor between one living and one dying, if not emotions?

It is now believed that a high percentage of food allergies are cause by an emotional basis towards food. Negative associations with food could happen because of emotional stuff. It's been shown that clearing up the emotions could clear up the allergy.

Many people and parents whose children are suffering with allergies are beginning to visit the offices of Energy healers or kinergetics practitioners more and more often to clear up allergies. Many of these patients would agree that they never would have thought there could have been a connection, but seeing was believing. Emotions are not the cause for all allergies, but for many the blocked emotions were causing the food issues.

Kathy, a woman in her 40s, has been allergic to sugar since childhood. While growing up she was restricted from eating sugar. She was given a gift box of chocolate by a friend for her birthday. As soon as the friend departed her mother flushed every last piece down the toilet before Kathy had a chance to eat one. She cried for hours. Her mother did not explain her behavior, and it remained an unhealed wound in her heart and brain. Ever since that day Kathy was allergic to sugar. It was only after treating her emotions that she fully recovered from her allergies.

Dr. Hamer, originator of German new medicine discovered that all disease begins with a shock experience. There begins a strong connection between the brain, psyche and organ. You might be out having pizza with friends, when one of them makes a comment which hurts your feelings. Next thing you know you have a strange allergy to pizza which you never had before. At some point your subconscious picked up the smell, taste and sounds of the objects surrounding the situation and the body acquires an allergy and re-enacts the situation each time it is presented with pizza. This shock impacts the brain and can visually be seen on a brain scan as a lesion which shows up as a set of sharp target rings. This also explains why certain smells will trigger strange and unexplained anger.

Dr Hamer was a doctor of internal medicine and had worked in university clinics for Ten years, also had his own Private practice and spent five years as a professor. While asleep on a boat, his son Dirk was shot, for no reason, by a madman. It came as an unexpected shock and he was powerless to react. In 1978 he developed testicular cancer from the shock or what he came to term a "loss conflict".

Since he had never been seriously ill, he knew that his condition was due to the death of his son but couldn't prove it. Three years later, as chief of internal medicine in a gynecology-oncology clinic at Munich University, he had the opportunity to study female patients with cancer and found that without exception, every single woman had experienced sleeplessness, weight loss, cold hands and the beginning of tumor growth shortly after their biological shock. In 1978 his thinking was considered ridiculous and insane. When he presented his discoveries to his colleagues, they gave him an ultimatum: either to deny his findings or leave the clinic immediately.

Deepak Chopra is another pioneer making leeway in the subject of spirituality, Ayurveda and mind-body medicine. An Indian-born, American physician, public speaker, and writer, Chopra began his career as an endocrinologist and later shifted his focus to alternative medicine. When he first began to speak out on the emotion/disease connection people refuse to listen and thought it all to be a bit voo doo ish. Today he runs his own medical center with a focus on mind-body connections. He is also a lecturer at the Update in Internal Medicine event, sponsored by Harvard Medical School's Department of Continuing Education and the Department of Medicine and one of my all-time favorite Authors and spiritual leaders.

In her book “you can heal your life” Louise L Hay also states that Allergies are bought on by denying your own power, an emotional congestion, bought on by a belief in persecution, and guilt. You also might want to consider who you are emotionally allergic to. An allergy is simply an indication of disharmony in the body, a dietetic error or a faulty style of living.

Eat Right and take plenty of vitamin B5 or pantothenic acid which will help build up the body's immune system. The ever-popular salt-in-lukewarm-water gargle helps cleanse the system and thus keeps allergies away. Sufficient intakes of bananas eaten regularly will effectively take care of skin rashes.

Even though many of my friends head for the Claritin the minute that they start having issues with allergies, I find that the stuff makes me horribly irritable and upsets my stomach greatly. I have personally found that Emotional work, chiropractic care, and the right supplements as mentioned above, tend to help me far longer than any over the counter pill.

I have also found EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) or tapping therapy to work wonders on curing physical and mental problems. A great website to start learning the tapping technique is www.tapping.com. A word of caution however; if you have never practiced EFT tapping, you’re going to find it hilariously funny, but I can assure you that it works! If nothing else you will have a great time laughing! It's free and worth giving it a try. You never know, you might wake up one morning to find yourself allergy-free!

Very very interesting. One becomes emotional during times of stress too and it's clear allergies always appear worse when stressed.

I developed an intense sinus issues after the birth of my son. After many attempts to heal myself, I finally relented and took Claritin. I have tried EFT with mixed results. Perhaps I should give it another go. I don't understand why the birth of my son, 17 months ago, caused this change in my system. It was a positive experience - best day of my life. Not sure what negative emotions could be involved.

btulloho98 I'm no psychiatrist but perhaps now that you know about emotional allergies you might be able to place the clues together. I know a woman who started having emotional allergies after her daughter was born because her mother was a midwife and when she was 2yrs old she was sat in on the birth of one of her mothers clients. She had not remembered it until she had her won child....Good luck
