Everything in Life is a Choice

Updated on May 25, 2011

It's up to you

Whether you believe it or not, everything up to this point in your life that has or has not happened to you is because of the choices you have made. Every aspect or our life when examined a little closer can be traced back to a series of choices we have made.  Ask yourself some of the following questions and see if any of them sound familiar.

What did you decide to wear today? What time did you decide to get out of bed? Did you go to work or did you decide to call in? How many things have you been able to get accomplished today? Have they been the things that would be in your best interest of getting your goals accomplished? What I want you to realize by asking you these questions is that everything that has occurred or will occur in your life is the result of a choice or series of choices you’ve made. Everything from what to wear, what to think, how to act, where to go, who to believe, who to love, what to focus on, what type of mental attitude you’ll have and on and on and on. Truly everything is a result of your ability to choose.

We as human beings have been given this tremendous power that allows us to change any result that we do not agree with or like, just by making a choice to change. Now you might tell me that “I don’t have complete control of my choices, I have to listen to my boss, my spouse, my teacher, and many others and these people tell me what you should or should not do. I really have no choice at all.” That’s the exact point I’m trying to make. You DO have the choice and you make them all day every day. You might feel that you have no choice when it comes to your bosses’ orders, but in fact that is not true at all. You could go against his/her wishes and not do what you were asked to do. You might not like the result of such a decision, but the point is that you do have a choice. You are making the choice to read this post right now. You will choose to read on or move onto something else. You have opinions about this topic and other topics every day and it is your choice of who to listen to which shapes the way you think and believe. Everything in life is a choice.

We are only held back from the things that we truly desire in life, by the choices we make on a daily basis. Most choose to make excuses and blame others for their poor results in life or in business and remain where they are right now, not realizing that if they would ask a few more questions about their previous choices, they might be able to propel themselves to exactly the amount of success they desire. Notice that making the excuses and blaming others is also a choice. You don’t have to continue down this road to self-destruction. You could begin today to take charge of your life and begin to focus on every choice you make, big or small. Stop blaming others for you results and begin to take full responsibility for where you are currently in life. Take control of your life and get what is truly yours. If you’re not happy with what you have today, then make a choice right now to make a change in your life that will bring you more of the things that you do want. If you make this choice in your life, you will immediately place yourself ahead of a large percentage of the population. Most people are afraid to take responsibility for their choices and actions, thus this has a tremendous impact why so many people do not have in life what they really want. Sometimes making choices is not easy but with practice you will find yourself making the correct decisions the majority of the time. Believe in yourself to make the right choices and if for some reason you happen to make an incorrect choice, choose to learn from your minor mistake, and then choose to move forward after learning from the process. The key is that you made a decision willingly. Take control of your choices and take control of your life.

What will you choose?

Being born is still a choice. It just wasn't yours to choose.

the young christian woman in college, a missionary, who was stabbed to death while jogging in the park this week in san antonio is different. choice implies responsibility for the results. though she chose to be there at that time it doesn't make her accountable for what happened. that was chance and evil. there is no "one word" answer for everything. i just realized that.

Your attitude towards getting cancer is a choice. What you do about it is a choice. Being born was a choice too. Your body made it. It took the first breath. You were not aware, but it happened.
