Mommy Exercise

Updated on March 29, 2016

Why is exercise so important?

Some of us are lucky enough to stay thin and look good regardless of whether or not we exercise. I am not one of those people, But they do exist. Think of that friend who had a baby and bounced right back without putting her sneakers on... Jealous!!!!!!! Some people are naturally thin. But that doesn't always mean they are healthy. Exercise is good for your heart. I don't care whether you're thin or fat, if you don't exercise you probably aren't in good cardiac shape!!!

Exercise helps your heart to be as healthy as possible. It also helps with several other health conditions. Even if you don't have these conditions, prevention is key!!!!!

Exercise makes you feel good. Working out releases endorphins. It's a proven fact!!!! Down in the dumps? Put your sneakers on and go for a walk!!!!!

Exercise helps build strong muscles.

With regular exercise you can lose weight (in combination with a healthy diet, of course)

You'll have more energy if you exercise. Who needs more energy?! ME ME ME!!!!!!!!

In my personal experience, it's addicting. Once you get into a groove, you look forward to that workout. Before I became pregnant with Evan I ran almost every single day after work. I looked forward to it. Then when I was not able to run, I missed it.... a lot.

In the end, you will feel better about yourself whether it's physically, or even mentally getting over that initial challenge of starting out. You can do it... as long as you don't have any underlying medical conditions or anything... then you may want to talk to your doctor first!!!!!

Motherhood

Are you a mom? How many children do you have???

I don't care how many children you have, parenthood is STRESSFUL.

Working out helps to burn off the negative energy that one can harbor during the stressful times of parenting. I know I could use some help in that department. I shouldn't have taken a break from working out especially during the most stressful time in my life. Lord knows I could have burned that attitude right off. Maybe I would have been more patient?

In regards to energy... who couldn't use more? Especially as a mother or even as a father? Think of it this way... if you worked out every day... just going for a walk or a run or doing some floor or chair exercises, you can increase your energy levels. Then perhaps you would not need to drink coffee? It's actually saving you money!!!!!!

Speaking of money - if you are working out and healthy, your medical costs in the long run may actually be less? Some people have hereditary things that they can't help but I'm sure exercising doesn't worsen your health in the long run.

Get your kids involved! When I do my "Cize" workouts I try to get my toddler to dance along as well. Sometimes he wants me to carry him while I try to dance.. I try to appease him in this way if I can. He's getting heavy! I feel that it's important for your children to see you being active. This sets an example for them. If you spend all of your time sitting on the couch watching television, that will be the example you set. Every now and then, sure it's fine. But day in and day out in front of the television? No good!!!!! Set an example for your kids. Starting with being active. Your kids just want to be like you. Think about it that way.

It's not just for you

Get Started! What are you waiting for???

Throw on your sneakers. Go for a walk. If it's cold, wear a scarf and a hat. Don't wait. You can do this! Go for it! Have faith in yourself!!!!!!

Good habits begin now.

The longer you wait, the longer you'll put it off. GET MOVING!!!!!!!!

POLL!
