The Scoop On Poop
Let's face it. We all go at some point, and we should all be going everyday! There's nothing to hide in this hub which you'll quickly take notice. Your poop says alot about you, and can even tell you if you're unhealthy! Read on to get the scoop on poop.
The Color Of Poop
We all know that poop can be different colors. Normally it is brown, which symbolizes a healthy diet. It can also be green or dark brown. Different things that we eat can make our poop turn different colors as well.
Light Brown Poop - When you have light brown poop, it means that your digestive system is working properly. Poop is brown because of the bile that is used in breaking foods down in the digestion process.
Green Poop - Green poop can be caused by many different things. One thing is that it went through your digestive system too fast. Another reason poop may be green is because you may have eaten something that had a strong green dye in it (lots of green food coloring like in icing). Green poop isn't really a cause for concern unless it happens frequently, in which case you should inform your doctor.
Black Poop - Black poop can be a sign of something bad, or mean nothing at all. If you have black poop it may be a sign of internal bleeding, possibly meaning that you have an ulcer or even cancer. If this is happening, something to realize is if it smells bad or looks sticky. Another reason your poop may be black could be due to a vitamin you are taking that contains iron. Either way, I would check with a doctor because internal bleeding, ulcers, and cancer are serious things.
Grey Poop - If your poop is alot lighter than it normally is for a period of time, this may signify that you have a blocked flow of bile or even liver cancer. If you notice your poop isn't it's normal self anymore, contact your doctor to let them know.
Size of Poop
Contrary to popular belief that "size is everything," this statement does not ring true when it comes to poop. Poop can be any size, big or small, thin or thick, so there's nothing to worry about there!
The Smell of Poop
This is where things get a little stinky. Should your poop be really stinky? Should it only stink a little bit?
Poop will smell because nobody can poop out roses. Actually, the smellier the poop, the better! Poop smells because of the bacteria in the stomach working to keep you healthy and keep the poop moving along. If your poop does not smell, then you are telling a lie because everyone's poop contains bacteria and bacteria stinks. So the next time you get yelled at for going to the bathroom and clearing out a room, make sure to remind that room that you are extra healthy and that they should envy you!
The Texture of Poop
We all know that there are 2 different textures of poop: soft and hard. When we poop, we normally poop hard poop. When we are sick or have diarrhea, well, that's a totally different story! If you do have diarrhea, make sure that you're drinking plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration, and if it lasts for more than a few days, you may want to check with your doctor to make sure there aren't any serious problems going on inside.
Overall, if you are pooping on a consistent basis, it's brown, and it's hard, you really have nothing to worry about! Except for those few times a year when we get diarrhea, our poop is pretty boring. Remember to eat healthy to keep your digestive system along with the rest of your body healthy to avoid unpleasant bathroom adventures. Until then, keep pooping and smelling the house up because remember; it's healthy!
