The Principles of Faith That Unlock and Potentiate The Release of Your Potential

Updated on August 24, 2011

Your potential is the most powerful asset that you possess and that will make you achieve your mission on earth in a way that can change the course of history. God, knowing what He created you for has deposited within you the ability to fulfill it. But this incredible tool is of no value if it remains potent. It needs to be unlocked and released toward the fulfillment of your God-given purpose.

Your potential is useless if it remains untapped. To highlight the tragedy of the untapped potential, Myles Munroe, in his book Releasing Your Potential, wrote: “What a tragedy it is for a child to die at such a tender age, before he has the opportunity to realize his full potential....Is it not a greater tragedy if those who lived to old age carried their books, art, music, inventions, dreams and potential to the grave?” You do not want to add to the wealth of the graveyard by dying with your potential intact. You need to die empty if you are to be really successful in life.

But how on earth are you going to release your potential and manifest what is yet to be seen? How are going to bring forth your value and help the world become a better a place? How can one really step into his greatness?

Well, the first thing, and maybe the most important one, concerning the release of your potential and going about your God-given task of carrying out your mission on earth, is that your abilities to do what you’re called to do on this planet are trapped within you and need to be unlocked and activated. And it is essentially by faith and belief that you unlock your potential and activate it.

Faith is the connecting link between your source and yourself, between the spiritual and material worlds; it is by faith that you receive the revelation about your life’s purpose; it is by faith that you acknowledge your potential; it is by faith that you recognize people’s needs as demands made upon your potential; and it is by faith that you unlock it.

Here are four principles of faith that explains how it unlocks potential

1. Faith Connects You to Your Source and Revives the Faculties of Your Spirit

The wiring of an electrical device is such that it can function only when plugged to an electrical source. No matter how wonderfully it’s been designed, no matter how great benefits you may enjoy from using it, it would be unable to function and useless if not connected to power.

Likewise, as a spiritual being, you can’t fully release you potential and optimally perform if you’re not connected to your spiritual source. And it is by faith that this connection is established. When man is in connection with his creator, his spiritual faculties quicken, get reanimated, are brought back to life, enabling him to function like God intended him to operate in this world.

2. Faith Sees the Invisible

The bible clearly states that things which are seen were not made of things which are visible as the worlds were framed by the word of God. When you believe in your calling, scales drop from your spiritual eyes, allowing you to see the unseen reality that you’re called to manifest

3. Faith Speaks the Unspeakable

Do you remember the story of Joseph, the favorite son of Jacob, who was sold to some slave traders by his brothers? He used to talk about his dreams, about what he was called to be. Faith expresses itself through words and deeds. You can’t keep quiet when you believe in something no matter what consequences you may face as a result of talking things which may not make any sense to your fellows.

It doesn’t matter whether or not people will buy into what you’re believing and saying, when you believe you speak. You speak to yourself in order to silence the opposing voices that might rise within you, and you speak to others so as to share your beliefs.

4. Faith Defies the Unthinkable and Acts Boldly

In his book, Action Has No Season, Self-made millionaire and Public Speaker Michael V. Roberts wrote, “Once you boldly embrace action, you will stimulate, activate and release the force of your possibilities.According to him, Destiny does not come to you automatically, it takes Action. Destiny is not to be expected, it is to be earned.”

Think of all the great achievements that men who believed in an idea accomplished. Consider for instance the Wright brothers how they invented the first airplane at the beginning of the 20th century. After observing how birds fly in the air, they believed that flight was possible to humans. With no formal education, no training in scientific theories, and no sponsor, they successfully designed a biplane and made the first successful flight on December 17, 1903. Orville and Wilbur succeeded where highly trained engineers and scientists (Samuel Pierpont Langley) failed.

If belief in an idea can produce this kind of bravery and determination in action, what faith wouldn't do? Nothing, all things are possible to him who believes.” It is by faith that men subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weaknesses, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. It’s what allows the human spirit to see the invisible, to speak the unspeakable, and to confidently and boldly do the undoable. Faith is the unlocking key of your potential, the activating force of whatever capability God has bestowed upon you for the fulfillment of your life’s purpose. Only by faith can you step into your greatness as it is what makes one see himself as who he’s meant to be and doing what he’s called to do.

Jagandelight and Ladyt11, thanks to both of you for commenting in a really encouraging way.

Jagandelight, you've well summarized the fourth principle: "Faith without work is dead".

I'm happy reading this article your life's purpose, and made you feel good, Ladyt11. Life's purpose comes with a set of unfailing promises...You are, will be, and will achieve who and what God has called to be and do. Go by faith with that strength of yours and the unlimited power of God at your disposal.

I like this hub and the way you lay out the faith principle to unlock your potential was great, but the picture spoke volume. It takes faith to move (Faith is always active not passive) if he didn't exercise his faith he wouldn't have discover the potential of walking again. "Faith without work is dead"

Keep up the good work and God bless you.

David, you're a great coach. The subtle way that you used to make me see my mistake demonstrates it. The exact date of the first successful flight is: December 17, 1903; not December 17, 2003.

      Thank you, I've corrected it.

You're right David, the date for the Wrights is off; it is your time now, our time...Let's seize it and "go higher".

      Stay blessed.

Very nice article Dr. Olivier. With faith, it doesn't matter what 'they' believe; It only matters what 'you' believe, as was the case with Joseph and his dreams. I think the date for the Wright Brothers is off, but very nice hub nonetheless.
