Fibroids - Causes and Symptoms

My Article is written to educate women on Fibroids.

It is very common among women in this day and age. I want to inform you on the causes and symptoms of Fibroids and what Fibroids are .

What is a Fibroid?

Fibroids are also called leiomyomas. They are benigh overgrowths that are on the muscle tissues of the uterus. They can be as small as a pea and large as a canteloupe or coconut.

What causes the Fibroid Growths?

Mainly uterin Fibroids depend on estrogen to grow, this is why most women in their 40's will start to get them.

Women in their 40's usually start having their hormones change right before they become premenopausal or menopausal.

Fibroids also occur more frequently in black women

Environmental toxins that are similar to estrogen can also cause it.

Usually when monopause is over, fibroids will tend to shrink unless u are taking estrogen.

Types of Fibroids

Uterine Fibroids:

  • submucous
  • sub-serious
  • cervical
  • calcified fibroids
  • pedunculated fibroids
  • non-cancerous tumors

Fibroid Symptoms

With an average of 20% in women Symptoms may include:

  • Heavy menstrual bleeding.
  • Pelvic pain
  • Pelvic pressure
  • Urinating frequently
  • abdominal distention
  • miscarriages
  • infertility
  • large fibroids can interfere with other organs in the body as well

3 out of every 4 women can suffer having fibroids and one time in their life.It is very important to see your doctor immediately if you are having any of the symptoms listed above. It could also indicate other illness's or problems as well.


Fibroids can cause many symptoms in women specifically in their 40's considering fibroids love estrogen. It is very important to see your Doctor of Physician in regards to Fibroids because of the symptoms and/or other indications of health disorders.
