Finding the Key to Happiness
“The happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.” – Unknown
What makes us happy?
What is the source of true Happiness?
Seeking a meaningful life, we all desire to be happy. What is the key to true happiness? Finding your niche in life is so important. Look at the want ads. Many are searching for jobs, companionship, or that perfect love.
Finding the key to happiness is a factor that drives many of us.
There are those "if onlys" we have in life that we believe will make us happy.
If only I had the right job, then I'd be happy. What you do on your day job may not be your passion and just getting by is not enough.
If only I could find the right person to marry, then I'd be happy. Real happiness, peace, or contentment cannot be found in another person. True you may have a happy marriage, be grateful for that, however people are flawed. Expecting our loves to bring us everything we need to make us happy, we are misled.
If only I had more friends, or if only I was part of that social group, then I'd be happy. If you are expecting someone else to be the source of your happiness, then you will be sorely let down. People have flaws. No one can be expected to be everything to everyone.
We have heard the saying, that in order to be happy, you must be happy with yourself.
Although this is somewhat true, inner peace and joy floats in and out. Our lives are spread across the pages, like writing an open book, our lives are captivated in that moment.
When heartache strikes and we find ourselves in pain and discontent, we seek to find happiness.
When you are on the top of your game, everyone is your friend. Filling your life with material possessions and empty friendships, you just bought your own happiness. Eventually you become aware of the “takers.”
The takers in your life are the ones who will take away your happiness. They steal your dreams, they lie and manipulate. Those individuals with deep seated insecurities will rob you of any source of true happiness, if you let them.
The charmers in your life are the ones who pretend to be your friend all the while they are trying to gain momentum. The self-pretense person who’s only interest in you is to see how much they can get.
However the real charmers are those who characteristically have an intuit personality with a natural ability to hone in and sometimes, with good intention. They become social friends.
Many friends in life come and go. Jobs are replaced or shut down. Finding that one true love to be your source of contentment is misleading.
In life, relationships can be a source of abundant happiness but they can also provide the greatest amount of pain.

Search for Meaning
Without divine guidance, man is mortal. Continually seeking attribution, we find ourselves sitting on the fence of life.
"When we have much of God's providential mercies, it often happens that we have but little of God's grace, and little gratitude for the bounties we have received. We are full and we forget God: satisfied with earth, we are content to do without heaven." – Charles Spurgeon
In our search for meaning, we desire to be happy. Shaping our lives by the dictation of memories, we evaluate and over analyze our past. While reflection is helpful, we must not stay stuck in our past.
Our lives evolve, we are constantly changing. Our world is shifting, like dry sand; we are constantly on the move. With practical knowledge we can apply every day principles to influence our actions. Embracing ourselves on a quest to find true happiness, we advance.
We acquire the latest devices, the state-of-the-art equipment, all in an attempt to make us happy. Technology is an application of tools and methods we use to improve our lives. Material things make our life convenient but that is not true happiness.
Is it all in vain?
A Source of Happiness
Finding pleasure and contentment is fortunate. If we are fortunate to have good people in our corner, we are blessed. Unlocking the key to success is acquired in the lives we impact, in the difference we are making.
We count for something. Our lives are not accidents spiraling out of control. A mere coincidence, I doubt that. For everything happens for a reason. Whether we are fortunate or not to find true happiness, we are inclined to seek it.
It's easy to have a great attitude when things are going our way. It's when difficult challenges rise before us...that attitude becomes the difference maker. — John C. Maxwell (motivational speaker and author)
We want the golden ticket. Crying out, “bring me luck; let my dreams come true,” if only I could win that lottery, we impress ourselves by our sheer magnitude. Money can't buy us happiness.
Secret to True Happiness
Finding true happiness resides in many hearts, it’s a constant search in today’s society. Where do we go to find what our hearts desire?
With a quiet restrain we put away all things that do not bring us comfort.
Recording the sounds of our times, we are all on a spiritual awakening. A distance of higher learning, our environment creates an impression on us. Philosophy is defined as a set of beliefs or principles that motivate a person’s conduct or behavior.
What we think determines what happens to us, so if we want to change our lives, we need to stretch our minds. — Wayne Dyer, author
The journey we discover may reflect back in the mirror of our souls. Counting on something and wishing for it, is about hope. Having a faith that can move mountains by purely placing your trust in God wins the race.
So then what is the secret to true happiness? The real key to happiness will be found at the Celestial City.
In eternity, when all our joys will be outstanding, we will find the overwhelming true spirit of happiness.
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. - James 1:2-3
