Fitness Tips to Motivate and Encourage You

Updated on September 29, 2012

Many people have the goal to exercise regularly, but it takes a lot of motivation to stick with a fitness program. For one, you may have a busy schedule and this is actually one of the huge obstacles standing in many people's way. Some people also become bored doing the same exercises every day so you'll want to make sure your exercise program is varied. Today, we'll share with you some tips on how you can keep yourself motivated if you decided to get on an exercise program.

Fitness Tips

It's difficult for some people to overcome the temptation to start in too quickly on a new workout routine. Just because your mind is willing does not mean that your body is willing. It will take your body some time to adjust to exercise to the point that you feel good after your workouts. Give you body a chance to adjust by taking the patient, incremental approach to exercise. You may not completely avoid some soreness, but minimal soreness shouldn't be an issue for you. Having a period of time to warm up your muscles and cool down your muscles is important.

Give your body time to adjust before increasing intensity. Many people who work out in an environment that they find enjoyable tend to consistently exercise. You'll want to work out where you are comfortable -- it can be at home, at the gym, or at a local park. For instance, some individuals like it when there are other people around when they are working out, so for them, the gym is an inspiring place. For others, it's stressful to exercise when there are people who can see them and so the gym isn't the most inspiring place for them to exercise. It is not unusual if you find that you are more comfortable exercising outside. If this is the case, you are better off running, walking or biking in nature rather than on a treadmill. Working out in the right environment is an important part of a successful exercise program.

Make visualization an important aspect of self-motivation for your fitness needs. Workout with an idea in mind of how you want to feel and look some day. Imagine yourself looking fit. If you have a specific weight you want to be in, imagine you're at that weight. In addition to mental images, make sure that you give yourself constant reminders that you stand to benefit from exercising regularly. Writing these down and having them in a place where you can easily see them is very useful. You can also do what some people do: every two weeks, take a photo of yourself and post it where you can easily see the photo. If you see proof of how good a shape you're in every couple of weeks, you're going to be inspired to stick to a regular exercise routine. You can achieve your health and fitness goals if you stay motivated. Try the suggestions we shared in this article.

Because my mind is willing does not mean my body is willing...this is true specially in the morning when i want to wake up early to go to the gym but just stop the alarm and sleep 5 more minutes and then decide not to go.

I will buy the one walking machine from Walmart is less than $50 and can use it a few minutes everyday,

      great hub.

A nice set of information but really doesn't bring anything new to the subject which will be covered in significantly more depth on other websites and many other hubs.

I'd recommend you google a subject before you write- you'll see what you need to improve on to be able to really gain success online.

Good luck with your next hubs. CF
