Flavorful Under 500; Longhorn Steakhouse Low Calorie Meals
Most Americans are looking for a tasty meal without all the calories. We have become a society of health conscious, weight conscious individuals. It is commonly known that eating healthy, well balanced meals, along with exercise and living healthy life styles, leads to a longer and higher quality of life.
Low Calorie Meals
I recently was fortunate enough to visit a Longhorn Steakhouse near Charleston, South Carolina. This steakhouse offers a selection of delicious meals on its “Flavorful Under 500” section of the menu. For a reasonable price, you can enjoy any one of the following dishes:
- Flo’s Filet – A 7 ounce filet mignon named after one of the company’s first servers
- Renegade Sirloin – A juicy USDA Choice 6 ounce sirloin
- Sierra Chicken – Two fresh grilled chicken breasts topped with tomato-basil salsa
- NAPA Grilled Chicken – Chicken breast sautéed with artichoke hearts, portabella mushrooms, roasted tomatoes in lemon butter sauce
- Grilled Fresh Rainbow Trout – Fresh Rainbow Trout grilled with basil, parsley and extra virgin olive oil
- Longhorn Salmon – 7 ounces of Fresh Atlantic Salmon marinated in a secret bourbon marinade, grilled to flaky perfection and served over rice
Each dish includes a house salad with a balsamic or raspberry vinaigrette dressing, and your choice of steamed and seasoned mixed vegetables or green beans. You can enjoy any one of these meals for a low price, somewhere between $10 and $20, depending on the location of the restaurant.
Exceptional Food, Excellent Service!
In North Charleston, the Longhorn experience was absolutely delightful! We were greeted promptly and seated in the bar section, immediately. Our server, Rob, was prompt, pleasant and polite. Rob timed our courses perfectly as we grazed from the delicious freshly baked Honey Wheat bread (not included in the ‘under 500 calories’), on to the scrumptious salad chock full of greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, and red cabbage. I chose the sweet yet tangy raspberry vinaigrette dressing.
When we finished our salads, our entrée’s were served exactly as ordered and at the perfect temperature. I opted for the 6 ounce Renegade Sirloin, cooked medium with green beans.

Vegetables Are an Important Part of a Well Balanced Meal
I was served a large portion of steamed green beans topped with a red pepper spice of some sort. They were very fresh and cooked to perfection.
I enjoyed 1 small piece of Honey Wheat bread, 1 glass of house Merlot, 1 regular portion of house salad, 1 large portion of delicious green beans, and half of my steak before I was full to capacity and completely satisfied. Other than the bread and wine, my meal was LESS THAN 500 CALORIES!
I highly recommend a visit to the nearest Longhorn Steakhouse to enjoy a healthy, delicious meal; and maybe purchasing a Longhorn Steakhouse gift card for someone special to you.
