My Anger Management Story
I joined the military in March of 2000 I had just turned 18. I was
scared, leaving a girlfriend behind, and mad at my parents. In my first
8 months of the military, I became a very angry and depressed young
man. By the time I made it to my first base, November 2000, I was a
ticking time bomb. I drove 2,000 miles with my Dad we had long talks
about what I should and should not do. I dropped him off at the
Albuquerque airport and drove 3 and half hours by myself to Cannon AFB,
NM. I became overwhelmed with everything that had happened in the last 8
months, moving away from home, my comfort, my friends....I cried out to
God....I said "If you are real, I'll do whatever you want just prove to
me you are real....PROVE IT" I cried for an hour and half straight and
I hadn't been a crier. I finally got to the air base....and had almost
forgotten I had cried out to God. Until this man walked up to me and
said "Would you like to go to a Bible study?" I never in my life had I
been to church or anything like that....make a long story short...I
believe God answered my prayer and sent a messenger to me. The truth is
this "Because all people have sinned, they have fallen short of God's
glory." Romans 3:23 and "For God so loved the world that he gave his one
and only Son, that
whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God
did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save

sinner, please forgive me for my sins those that I have done in secret
and out in the open, thank you for sending your Son Jesus Christ to die

I remember growing up through my teenage years and I must admit it was difficult at times to be positive about every scenario that life would throw my way. You know the big heavies like, "what do people at school think about me? Do they think I'm cool? Does that girl like me? Who will I ask to the dance? Should I clean the house like my parents said?" I'll tell you what; I sure wish I had a free anger management resource when I was a teenager. With the arsenal of hype that is thrown at a teenager nowadays, it's not shocking that some teens have to problems with anger. Remember back to your teenage years the norm for us was to always think of ourselves first, strongly deviating from a considerate human being. It is regrettable and heartbreaking when, as an adult looking back, the teen years should be the best years of your life and are the ones that contain the most potential. In order to adjust to their ever changing environment teens are forced to grow up much faster due to every day tests and barriers that present themselves. It is more prevalent nowadays for young teens to be able to handle adversity really well; still there are other teens that are quick to build their defensive barrier. When faced with conflict, many teens lash out and become out of control, often to the point of violence and even, suicide.
Finding the right plan of attack for anger management in teens can be a daunting task. Most teens will be quick to reject any type of counsel and don't always follow directions correctly. For anger management in teens to be a success, the curriculum that is drafted should be able to reach the embattled teen without being overbearing. The biggest task in the anger management of a teen is actually convincing them that they have unchecked anger issues that need attention. It may be tough but it is critical to help them understand the magnitude of change that desperately needs to occur in their lives.
