Free Legal Advice! Well it wouldn't be illegal advice now would it? IANAL

Updated on January 6, 2014

Nudity is illegal, except when it is not.

Free Legal Advice. Really free and really legal.

Why not give free legal advice. I do not like to pay for advice and I want it to be legal. Read this and get free legal advice.

Take your computer into a computer store and ask the technician for advice. I sure hope it is legal. If you tell you how to steal and download software that would probably be illegal advice, although I am not a judge or cop.

Go to a law office and ask them how to start your car. I hope they give you free legal advice on that, although I suppose if they taught you to hot wire it that would kind of be illegal.

It don't take no genius to figure that most advice is legal and yet a whole bunch is illegal.

Here is a caption of a legal document

John Doe the silly schmoe

Plaintiff in Pro Per

Plaintiff, vs.

Case No. 11666666-MMA-NLS

4 CAL. CIV CODES 2923.6 & 2932.5

5. CAL. CIV. CODE1770 &BUSINESS &P.C 17200

Plaintiff John Doe alleges as follows:

  1. At all relevant times, Plaintiff has been, and continues to be, a resident of the County of San Diego, State of California, and was the title owner of the real property situated at funny street, California (the "Property").
  2. JP Morgan Chase Bank N.A. (herein afterword alternatively “Chase”)engages in the servicing of loans and the making of loans and is a corporation doing business in California. Federal National Mortgage Association is a national association that does business in California.
  3. Upon information and belief, Quality Loan Service Corp. (herein afterword alternatively “Quality”) was the putative Trustee, is a California corporation, and is a trustee engaged in the business of conducting non-judicial foreclosures of real property in California. Quality was an agent of the defendants and each of them at all times relevant herein.
  4. Plaintiff is unaware of the true names and capacities of the Defendants sued herein and identified in the caption as Doe’s 1 through 10 inclusive, and therefore sues these Defendants as “Doe’s”. Upon information and belief, each of the foregoing Doe Defendants is responsible for the conduct alleged herein, and is responsible for the damages suffered by Plaintiff described in this complaint. The Plaintiff will advise the Court of the true names and capacities of these Doe Defendants as soon as their identities are ascertained. Further Plaintiff herein alleges that all named and unnamed defendants herein are and were acting as the agents for the remaining defendants and other parties named and unnamed herein. At this time it is impossible for Plaintiff to know all the agency and “servicing” and “underwriting” and guarantee agreements between the other parties.
  5. Upon information and belief, certain of the “Doe” defendants are the agents, servants, and/or employees of the Lender and Trustee, and they engaged in conduct that is complained of herein; at all relevant times, the “Doe” defendants acted within the scope of their agency and/or employment.

Is Money For Nothing legal?

The above is not legal advice it is legal drafting

That is a real court document - names changed except for the stinking banks. I hope you started reading it and skipped it before you got a headache. The rest of the complaint is over 60 pages long.

Drafting: The main reason legalize is so wordy is because back around 17 hundreds lawyers were scribes and they actually got paid by the word.

Do you give legal advice

Was the last advice you gave legal and free?

Back to Free Legal Advice

You get what you pay for in the field of law. And you get what you paid for in the field of life. Pay for advice if it is important to you.

Here are some fun ones: If you are not a lawyer (IANAL) and you tell someone that if they drive 70mph in a 45 mph zone they are breaking they law -- that is illegal advice technically because it is advice about the law and you are not licensed attorney. Figure that one out.

I give advice all day long and I hope 90% is legal. But if I tell you how to hide your income from taxes that may be illegal. If I tell you not to sign a contract with out reading it -- that could be illegal if it is considered legal advice.

A lawyer licensed in California who online advises a person in Nevada about the law -- that is illegal advice.

It is enough to make your head spin.

Oh man did this guy ever give legal advice

But no one ever paid him for it.

So here is that Free Legal Advice

Play catch with you young son. Mow your grass. Shovel your snow. Eat well.

Now in each one of those we can concoct a scenario where that would be illegal advice but generally it is legal advice.

Now go be legal!

This is just a poisonous sidewinder

I am not saying this is symbolic of anything but remember the first advice to Eve. Makes you think.
