Go Petition for Natural Health by Heidi Stevenson

Updated on August 22, 2012

As of April 12, 2011 there are 151151 Signatures on a web petition, but the time period has ended to vote.

I'm very proud to be friends with the author of an important international petition for Natural Health Freedom.

Health advocate and homeopath, Heidi Stevenson, speaks out about protecting your health freedom rights. She blogs on her website Gaia Health. She puts her extensive computer skills to work designing and programming to fit her needs.

Heidi researches topics and most people do not realize she does all the work herself and then everyone tweets, posts to facebook and shares her pages.

Just this week I received a number of messages telling me to visit a particular page and vote. However, that website page is down and Heidi's GoPetition website is the only one that works.

I highly recommend that you take a look and read what steps the government proposes and how it will affect your ability to take and purchase natural products. Please tell your friends.

Working and Functional Health Petition by Heidi

European Commission Directive April 2011

We call on the European Commission to stop the Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products Directive (THMPD), Directive 2004/24/EC, which is set to remove access to the vast majority of herbal medicinal products beginning 30 April 2011.

THMPD abridges the rights of each European citizen to self-determination in managing health. It goes far beyond reasonable controls over dangerous products, and enters the realm of coercion by limiting options for treating health issues.

Hi Debby, Yes, we do seem to have similar interests in science and medicine.

I would hope that most people would be interested in health.

Natural health is a good thing.

Though well intentioned, the petition associated with the video is deeply flawed. It will accomplish absolutely nothing. Here are the details:

First, you should take note of its goal. It states that it wants amendments, and also states that the amendments it wants are to take "preparations made from non-European plants into better consideration". That is not adequate. That indicates a complete lack of understanding of what the THMPD is doing. It will prevent the public's direct access to ALL medicinal herbs - not just non-European ones - unless they have been approved.

In the UK, only 76 medicinal herbal products - not the plants, but only products made from them, specified by brand name - have been approved so far. It's my understanding that the UK has approved more than most other EU nations. (For a current list, you can go to http://gaia-health.com/articles401/000406-herblist...

Taking non-European plants into better consideration is not going to accomplish anything that will make any serious difference. This petition would only allow non-EU based herbal products to be treated in the extremely unreasonable manner that EU based products will be. At this point, there is only one peppermint product that's been approved in the UK. No Calendula product has been approved. Only one Arnica gel has been approved. (Can you imagine what it will cost without any competition?) That's the situation we're facing - and this petition will do absolutely nothing to change it.

Further, on viewing the page code for their petition, it's obvious that they are not collecting any information beyond the first name, last name, and e-mail of the signers, even though they ask for addresses. No part of any address is saved. Therefore, there is no indication of what country the signer lives in. It is also incredibly easy to fake signatures. They do not check IP addresses. (I can produce a screen print of the signature Sean Connery done 27 times within about five minutes.)

Please, look closely before signing. If you want to sign a serious petition with a serious goal, go to Stop the Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products Directive Petition (http://www.gopetition.com/petition/39757.html). Its goal is the full repeal of the THMPD.

The THMPD is the work of the pharma mafia and their tools - the politicians. I already signed this petition, thanks for this hub!

Great Hub. I do not trust doctors as a group. I use them when I have to, along with naturopaths, chiropractors, ostopaths, Reiki practioners & traditional herbal Medicines when they can help me. This Hub was very good indeed.
