Growing a Beard and the Frustration that Comes With It

Updated on May 4, 2012

I've been trying to grow a full manly beard. A Jason Motte like beard, or Brian Wilson. I play baseball and I'm a pitcher and nothing is more intimidating than a big ol' beard. Unfortunately, it's very frustratin; it will fully connect. The sideburns come all the way down and than there is about a centimeter gap between the sideburn and beard hair and it bothers me so much! I'm so jealous of people who can grow full beards because I want one. Now I have red hair, so what's more intimidating than a big tall guy with a bright red monster beard? Anyway, so this article is all about my favorite beards and I ask anyone to offer any weird advice they have when it comes to growing beards.

Brian Wilson

Obviously, as stated before this man has a crazy beard. If you've ever watched the San Francisco Giant closer pitch on the mound, you've seen his beard, or his fear the beard campaign. Brian Wilson pretty much used his beard to make a business out of himself and probably earned more money last year than any other year of his life. Here is his ferocious black dyed beard.

Jason Motte, another one of the MLB's closers (possibly the best right now, I'm a Cardinals fan), Jason Motte has a fierce, all natural, non-dyed, red, brown, grey, black beard. It is untamed like a wild beast but it showcases superior manly hood. It would be my dream to own his beard, or to have his beard growing abilities. Here it is.

Brad Pitt's Hobo Beard and Hairstyle

A while back, Brad Pitt, one of the manliest of men, grew out a ferocious untamed, wild, beard and top, to make him look like a ragged version of Jesus that just came out of the desert. Or your typical homeless person on the streets. This beard was just crazy. That's all there is too it.

Joaquin Phoenix

Another short lived, homeless man, jesus, styled beard, Jaoquin sported this when he went on his weird rapper hiatus. Not much to say about that.

These are just a couple of the MANY hollywood and sports beards. But I figured I would just name some of my favorite, wild untamed beards. There are some nice tamed well kept beards out there that should be talked about but I will save that for another time and keep my jealousy limited to this untamed growing style for now. Any tips/favorite beards? Comment please add your input.

I can't let my husband grow a beard. His hair is dark blond and his beard would be bright red. It just doesn't go together. Great hub.
