Asma is a very bright student who has gone through depression. This is what I learnt from her and these are the key points to happiness.

Happiness is the state of being content, positive and motivated. Happiness and satisfaction are interrelated. If one is satisfied, he is definitely happy and vice versa. To be happy, one must maintain balance in one's different aspects of life. Our perception, positivity, kindness and our faith leads us to the ultimate peak of happiness.

In the words of Sonja Lyubomirsky, happiness can be defined as "the experience of joy, contentment,or positive well being, combined with a sense that one's life is good, meaningful, and worthwhile ".

One's happiness is directly linked with one's inner self. If one develop a sense of responsibility that if one is going through something bad,it's the result of one's own actions , then one will be satisfied. Thus, one will learn the art of being happy in all the circumstances. It is said that the greater goods begin with you. So if one gets to learn this that no one else can make him happy but one's own self, then one can never get disappointed and will always remain happy and satisfied.

Happiness is also directly related with how a person perceives things. If a person has positive attitude and perceives things positively, has no expectations from others, and believes that whatever happens, happens for some good reason; he'll always be contented and satisfied. As it is said that folks are usually about as happy as they make their mind to be. So if a person makes up his mind to be happy, nothing can make him unhappy.

There are somethings which one need to do in order to be happy. As one always gets for what one strives. So, in order to be happy one needs to have faith. If one won't have any faith, one might get disappointed. Faith will bring a positive outlook in one's personality which will always keep the one motivated to reach the ultimate stage of happiness.

Being kind and good to others is another key to happiness. A person who does wrong to others can not achieve the ultimate level of satisfaction or happiness. If one can't do some good to others, one mustn't harm them. Psychology says that making others happy makes you happy.

To be happy, one needs to maintain a balance in one's life. One needs to maintain a balance between different aspects of his personality, and not only of personality but also of life to be happy. If one becomes contented with the least and is thankful for what he has, no one can snatch happiness from him. One must believe that everything is temporary and his difficult time too shall pass by.

To be happy depends on one's own self. So one must avoid negative thoughts, must always have positive vibes and have a faith that everything happens for some great cause. A satisfied person is a happy person.
