The scientific name of Almond is Prunus Dulcis. It is a native plant of the Middle East and South Asia. Almond is known to man for ages. The health benefits of Almond were also well known to the ancients.

Almonds are rich with Vitamin E, Magnesium, Potassium, Zinc, Iron and some other vitamins. The fruit is a good source of natural fiber. There are high amounts of Calcium in it, too.That is why almonds are beneficial for bones and teeth.

This fruit is a good choice for vegetarians because of having a good amount of monounsaturated fat. Such fat is rare in other vegan foods.

Almonds are rich in nutrients, but the most importantly it is rich in good fat If you take some almonds as food to replace some fat rich foods, it will definitely help you for your weight loss. Though Almonds contain fat, this fat does not increase your body weight.

      Great information. I have happy memories of eating them raw from a tree in Corsica when I was a kid. I loved the flavor but have never been able to find fresh ones since.
