Spinach (Health Benefits)

Spinach Benefits!

Spinach is one of the healthiest foods on the planet. It belongs to a species named Amaranthceae which grows as much as 30cm high and can be found in southern and central areas of Asia.

Spinach is one of many other foods that children hate the most. Nevertheless, spinach contains many health benefits that can help you liver longer and protect you against diseases. This is because spinach contains vitamin K, calcium, folic acid, iron and beta carotene. Let us have a look at the health benefits of spinach.

1) Cancer Prevention

Did you know that out of all vegetables, spinach contains the most flavonoid compounds? Most of these compounds such as foliate, tocopherol and cholorophyllin can help prevent a number of cancers including prostate, liver, lung and bladder cancers.

2) Bones

Vitamin K in spinach combined with calcium and magnesium can help improve bone health. However, apart from vitamin K, spinach also contains zinc, copper, manganese and phosphorus which helps maintain stronger bones. These ingredients in spinach can also help prevent osteoporosis.

3) Other Health Benefits

Spinach has other health benefits apart from preventing cancer and maintaining healthy bones. Other health benefits include:

·        Protecting the skin

·        Lowering high blood pressure

·        Strengthening muscles

·        Improving vision

·        Reducing strokes and heart attacks

Despite spinach being one of the healthiest foods on the planet, it is hated most by young children. Always try feeding your family more healthy foods similar to spinach but do reduce their intake on junk foods.
