High Protein Diet to Lose Weight

Updated on August 8, 2015

Many people are continuously looking and researching more information and ideas on dieting and which ones work quickly. A meat diet may be able to help lose weight quickly.

Meat Studies

Studies and a good amount of research has shown that high protein died cuts down hunger signi´Čücantly which can contribute to help in losing weight. The science believed behind this is that increased levels of protein in the blood stream will stop appetite stimulating hormones from being distributed throughout the body.

Metabolism

When it comes to your metabolism and weight loss, you'd want to speed it up. That is exactly what meat does, due to the fact that it is high in vitamin B. The best choices of meats that are high in vitamin B are lean beef, pork and chicken. These are very important to include in your diet.

Meat Diet Plan

The meat diet plan, as you would expect, includes eating much more meat than you usually do. White meat is preferable in a diet such as this. Proteins are supposed to make up 30% of the amount of calories you take in. Not many people actually meet this goal. When you are choosing which meat to consume you want to make sure that it is not full of fat. You will also be asked to cut down fat consumption to 20% of your daily energy intake.

The second part of the meat plan is to cut down on carbs. This is found in most diets. Diets usually suggest cutting down on whole grains and beans however most diets suggest increasing your vegetable and fruit intake. The meat plan simply counts these as carbs and suggests you cut back on them. This diet also suggests completely avoiding white bread, white rice and pastries.

Smaller meals are also better. Snacking is allowed between meals but you should still stay away from junk food. You also need to make sure that you are working out. With any diet, it is also important to include an exercise plan to build muscle mass which also speeds up your metabolism.

Disadvantages

Unfortunately, meat does contain a high amount of saturated fatty acids, lipids and cholesterol. High cholesterol in the blood stream is said to be related to heart disease so, it is important to research these foods and talk to your doctor about dieting plans.

Eating too much meat can cause high levels of uric acid in the body. High levels of uric acid can cause kidney stones, gout, and rheumatism.

Almost all meats, unless bought directly from a butcher and told otherwise, has been contaminated by toxins and bacteria. These meats are also contaminated by synthetic growth hormones and nitrates which can all have very strong effects on your health. Colon cancer has also been linked to those who regularly consume a large amount of red meat. Prostate cancer can also increase the rate of prostate cancer in men. In comparing diets it is up to you to weigh the pros and cons and choose the right diet
