Homemade Herbal Remedies, Recipes, and their Healing Benefits

For last many centuries, natural herbs have been providing healing benefits to the mankind. Moreover, natural herbs are used till now to make homemade herbal recipes to treat different kinds of health ailments. In most Asian countries like India, these recipes were prepared by old wives and were passed onto younger generations. People call them by the name of “grandma herbal remedies, supplements, and drinks”, but it is interesting to note that till now there is no true literature on the Internet that explains how these herbal recipes including herbal tonics, decoctions, drinks, and essences are actually prepared. People who share info regarding these recipes or remedies on the Internet have either learned them from their elders or have gathered and compiled information from texts available in ancient books like Ayurveda and other holistic healing books from around the world. This is the reason why the need arises to know exactly which herbal remedy helps in treating which type of problem and for that below is a list of herbal remedies with their healing benefits:

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a herb which is called as dal chini in Hindi. Cinnamon homemade herbal remedy has been used since ancient times to treat menstrual problems, digestive disorders, diarrhea, low blood pressure, and minor injuries.

Carum Carvi

Carum also helps in treatment of digestive disorders just like cinnamon but this herb has been found to be very beneficial for treating infant colic by expelling stomach gas. Carum is called as caraway seeds in some countries and it is also a natural remedy for menstrual cramps.

Carum Copticum

Carum copticum is actually a spice and is also a counterpart of carum carvi. It is known by the name of ajwain seeds in Hindi, widely used in preparing Indian curries. Interestingly, you can find an ajwain seed in every Indian kitchen, as this herb spice helps in building strong flavor of curries. When used in curries, Ajwain remedies any problems associated with eating high-fat or indigestible foods.

Wild Cherry

Wild cherry herbal remedy has been known around the world to treat cough, bronchitis, and many types of respiratory ailments in infants. Wild cherry is also a natural sedative.

Chanca Piedra

Chanca piedra is called as a “stonebreaker” or a “kidney cleansing herb” as this herb has extensive diuretic properties and herbal recipe Chanca Piedra helps in kidney and gallstone removal. You can see the photograph of Chanca Piedra liquid extract on the side. This herbal decoction helps in breaking down calculi stones and even stones of gallbladder.

Chaparral

American Indians used to consume chaparral herbal tea for treatment of respiratory problems. This herb is a natural antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibiotic. Herbal tea of chaparral remedies stomach, liver, and kidney disorders and also gynecological disorders like delayed or irregular menses.

Blue Cohosh

Scientifically called as caulophyllum thalictroides, blue cohosh remedy relieves menstrual cramping, sore throat, chest pains, epilepsy, and arthritis.

Black cohosh

Black cohosh is a popular counterpart of blue cohosh, which also helps in relieving menstrual problems. Works as a sure shot herbal remedy for bleeding gums, prostate cancer, and headaches of unknown origin.

Above were just a few herbs with herbal recipes and remedies. There are various other herbs like cloves, Echinacea, eucalyptus, raspberry, fennel, ginger, chamomile, mint, parsley, salvia, celery seeds, etc. that provide healing benefits to the mankind.
