How Can I Stop Drinking Alcohol

Updated on August 13, 2013

The big question for every alcoholic, including myself is, how can I stop drinking alcohol. The answer lies right in the hands of every alcoholic, but they are so addicted that they can't the answer clearly do to their addiction.

I sure that every alcoholic doesn't want to feel as they do and have such a dependence to the very thing that is ruining and possibly killing them slowly. The alcoholic doesn't wait up one morning and says to them self, "how can I destroy myself and my family?"

That's not the case at all. It's just that we started with our experimenting with alcohol and our bodies took a liking to it and now that we have found something to supposedly made us happy we stuck to it and now the consequences are we are totally addicted to alcohol.

Now, these people that have been taken over by their own inner demons have to figure out how to stop drinking alcohol, but the problem is that they love the feeling of being drunk, high or what ever the experience is that they love to feel while being intoxicated. Some get alone with their drinking of alcohol, and why is that is because they when enough is enough.

Others, like myself never knew when to stop drinking. It was never enough. We drink until every drop of booze is gone or we pass out or black. What a horrible way to live the one and only life we have. Drink alcohol, laugh, say things that you may regret the next day, start arguments, bar fights or whatever alcohol does to you.

What Is the Secret to Stop Drinking

Alcoholics may ask other people that are clean and sober," what is the secret of being sober and not drinking alcohol?" There is no secret at all. Sobriety is there for anyone that wants in their lives and if you don't want to stop drinking alcohol, then you will never have to feeling of being clean and sober again.

You must want to change your life and quit drinking alcohol for good in order to experience the good life. There is nothing at all good about being drunk everyday of your life. What possibly can you can except declining health, a car accident that you may have injured or killed a innocent person or their whole family.

You wake up each and every morning feeling like crap until your first drink of the day which will put you right back in the land that you love so much, being drunk. It is a continuous cycle, day after day drinking alcohol, then eating like there was no tomorrow and then passing out for the night.

I can write this and talk about it because that is exactly how my life was all those years of drinking. No one can tell me how alcohol effects a person or their families, because I learned it first hand and the hard way.

So you now want to now how you can stop drinking alcohol? The secret is you just drink drink! That is the secret. Granted, this secret of you just don't drink takes some work and the determination to stay away from the alcohol, but if you are not serious about quitting drinking then there is no point even trying. Sad to say but so true. If you don't have it in your heart that you want a better life for yourself and your family then why even try because it's not going to work.

Sure, you can quit drinking for a week, month or even a couple of months, but will you stick to your promise to yourself by not ever drinking again? Do you have what it takes to make your sobriety long term and forever?

beauty job hon. You said it perfectly, it's there for anyone who wants it. I had to lose everything twice and my consequences are still enormous, but a power greater than myself gave me a sliver of permission to like myself for a long enough time I believed just maybe I was worth wanting to be clean. TCL thank god the only requirement for membership is a DESIRE to stop drinking [heroin for me] cause I wasn't one of thes 'get me clean' cheerleaders and remained a chronic relapser for some time. But I really did want it, I just couldn't bring myself to ask another sober happy being for help or tell the pain I was in.

Love the work you do and should be hanging here more often. Great Hub

ps-if the above gibberish doesn't make sense, I am OK with that today cause I am free of all mind altering chemicals, plus I jus woke up LOL!
