How I Came To Learn Massage

Remembering Childhood Massage
How I came to learn massage is an unusual happening in my life for it was not dream. When I was in elementary grade, I was thinking of becoming a nun because maybe of the influence of my mothers' distant relative who is a nun. The nun was so simple, modest and very good to us kids. She was a novice at that time when she visited my mother. I was so impressed by her good nature. She did not like us to curse.
As a kid, I was sickly that my mother always sent an old woman who had the talent to give a massage and she was so good as she was busy all the time giving massage treatments to the people in our town. I loved her massage very much as I was able to sleep after the treatment and felt healthy and great again. I did not know if the old woman learned her massage at school. I don't think there was a massage school in the 60's. Massage was passed on from generation to generation amongst daughters. So it is common to us to have a massage first when we get sick before we see a doctor. Doctors are expensive.
When I became older, married and living in Germany, massage was only enjoyed when I went home to the Philippines for a holiday. Here in Germany, my friend studied to become a massage therapist. When she finished her studies, she opened a one room massage studio in her cellar. She was enjoying her job and telling me how great her job was and how contented she was. She was very popular among her clients for she was becoming a friend and listener to some clients who had problems. One day she told me that she needed somebody to help her. It would be nice if I knew how to massage and learn it someday so I could help her when she had anything else to do besides massage. I said, I don't know I have to try it first if I will like it before learning a massage course.
Then one day on my birthday, I received a gift voucher from my husband. A gift voucher for awhole day in a spa in our city. I was so happy and excited because I have not visited a spa before that. I was thinking it must be very expensive but I deserved it, said my thoughtful husband. It was the beginning of a new life.
First Time In A Spa
My first visit in a spa has brought a great decision to my life. Of course I did not know it at first. When I went to the spa for my treatment, I did not know what will become of me. I only knew that I'll be having body scrub, cleopatra bath, wellness massage, facial, manicure, pedicure, lunch, champagne and many other goodies.
The spa was very beautiful. The receptionist told me to wait for a minute and then came a uniformed woman, which was the therapist as I later learned and accompanied me to a place where I could take off my clothes aside from my knicker and leave my things in a locker. Then she gave me a bathrobe to wear, slippers to use and accompanied me to a lovely smelling room with shower and lighted candles everywhere. A very relaxing scent that made me feel relaxed. She told me to take a shower and after drying myself, to climb on a massage table with cellophane foil on top on it.
The therapist was starting scrubbing me with the body scrub she just mixed while I was having a shower. I think it was a honey body scrub as I can still remember the smell of it. Then after the scrub, she covered me with that foil I was already laying on. She then left me for around 20 minutes relaxing on the bed packed in foil. I was almost asleep when she came in. She then unpacked me and I had to take a shower to get rid off the scrub from my body.
The next thing was that the therapist ushered me to another room. It was a classy, scented bathroom. The Cleopatra bath was prepared already and I only had to get inside. The water in the bath was so milky as there was full milk mixed in the water. On the bottom and sides of the tub were massage jets massaging my whole body. Before the therapist left me for another 20 minutes, she gave me a glass of champagne to drink. Alone again, I felt I was in heaven.
I could have stayed in the bath the whole day long. It was awesome. When I got out of the bathtub, I was feeling high and dizzy due to the alcohol I drank. I'm not used to drinking alcohol. I drank the champagne because my thought was: "It is paid by my hardworking man, so I have to drink it."
The next was a foot spa, a full body massage followed by for my dry skin, manicure and pedicure. Having the lovely treatments, I said to myself: "That´s it! It´s the job I´d love to do." I was pampered the whole day that I was like walking above the ground, so light and so sleepy. When my husband collected me from the spa, I was not myself. At that night I slept ten hours in peace without any sleepdisorder. I was glad I made it. That was the stepping stone of what I really wanted for a job. Making my future clients happy for the rest of the day. Seeing them smiling and conntented.
This hub is dedicated to my friend Efsie who is residing and enjoying her life, sitting and drinking lemon juice in front of the ocean overlooking the 2 unpopulated islands in my home country.

Why I Love Giving Massage
After that memorable day at the spa. I took 6 massage courses for a year and was successful working at Spa Elysium in Ireland for almost 3 years. Although I am no longer working at the spa in Ireland, I am still called to help a friend who owns a massage studio here in Germany, to massage her clients. That is when a worker is sick or in vacation. It has become my hobby.
I can´t give up giving a massage because I loved it when a client felt satisfied and relieved after suffering from backache and muscle pain. I felt happy every time I saw the relaxed face of my client and I was always glad to be able to help get rid of the pain. Giving a massage is a very rewarding job. It is the job that I really love doing.
Thanks for reading Guys. Enjoy your day! God bless!
