How I got relief from my headache without any medicine !

Updated on April 26, 2015

Dear Friends,

I would like to share with you my story as to how, quite by chance, I found a way to get relief from my headache without taking any medicine whatsoever.

Many of us, I believe, do know what headache is like. Some people get headache more frequently than others and the severity of pain and its duration certainly varies from person to person. There must be reasons as to why we get headache. It could be due to stress and strain, constipation, insomnia or insufficient sleep, bad eyesight and so on. It could perhaps also result from head injury. I have no idea whether headache could be hereditary.

Speaking of myself I had suffered from headache from now on then when I was at school and at college but the pain never lingered for too long. I remember each time I didn’t even need medicine, sometimes all that was required was some good rest. But my headache started to become severe and frequent following a motor cycle accident I had way back in 1987 or 1988. Thank God I had the helmet on which saved my life! I only had some bruises and a stiff neck and had to use a neck collar. Oh just remembered I had also some muscle pain in one leg for which I had to walk with a stick for a few days.

Anyway, since that accident headache became almost a regular feature and I had to take pain killing tablets - mere rest didn’t do me any good at all. There was thumping pain and the pain was always at the back of my head, at the base of scull, a little away from my ears on both sides. Sometimes pain was unbearable and I had to tie a ribbon around my head and lie in bed for a while to get some comfort though I knew that this was not the right thing to do – I was so desperate then that I would try out anything that gave me some comfort. But the moment I took the ribbon out I started to feel the pain again.

One day I went to a Neurologist, who, after examining me, confirmed that I had no internal injury and then prescribed a tablet ( it was Migil or Mijil , I am not sure about the correct spelling ) and advised that I should take one tablet whenever I felt that headache was approaching slowly.

Anyway my headache was not over and I had no other alternative but to take tablets as before. I became more and more worried and wondered how I could get a permanent cure.

And then one day while I had the headache I started to brush my hair at the back of my head with a comb, there was a feel of comfort, I combed my hair continuously for about 3/4 minutes, pressing the comb a little hard on those areas near my ears and amazingly , would you believe, my headache was gone. I was however not convinced that the combing did the magic. If I can recall correctly my next headache returned almost after a week but the pain was a lot less than before. I started combing my hair again and found the same result – the pain vanished. If I can recall correctly, I have had very mild headache and that too once in a blue moon during the last five years but there has been no need to take any medicines whatsoever.

In case anyone of you who is having headache as I had, I would request please try combing your hair the way I did. It may work, it may not but it’s worth a try. Touch wood what I have written so far are all true.

I shall definitely be so glad to receive a feed back in case any one of you get a positive result.

Good Luck to you.

I had heard that brushing or combing your hair would help make a headache go away. I never really thought it would work. It sounds like it's worth a try.

Hi Movie Master, so nice to see you. I am glad that you have liked the hub. Thank you so much for your comment.

I have one hairbrush at home similar to yours purchased recently. I wish I had this many years back when my headache used to be severe. Anyway I shall certainly use this if and when I get a headache.

Hope you are all well and in excellent spirit.

      Best Wishes,

Hi Kamalesh, I'm so glad you don't suffer with the headaches so much now, I think your comb was a big help, I use to suffer a lot then my daughter bought me a hairbrush, it had batteries in it and when you switched it on and brushed your hair, it vibrated, I think that helped the headaches. I think your comb is working in the same way. Lovely hub and voted up, best wishes to you always.

I used ordinary comb with bristles having less distance in between. Yes, give my tip a try my friend and I wish you all the best. It will give me immense pleasure to know if you find this has worked for you.

I am glad that you have liked the hub.
