"How To Combat fat and Obesity In Our Children"

"How To Combat Fat And Obesity In Our Children"

The world is full of fat and obesity adults and children, that soon or later will become a victim of a health related problems. I realize that some people have mental and emotional problems that causes dependency on food to make them feel good, like endorphins. It's unfortunate for these people,because their dependency on food causes them to become over weight and obese. If you have a mental or emotional problem, then you should seek help from your doctor so you can control your weight gain. I think our children should be taught at an early, age about healthy foods and good nutrition. By starting to teach our children what to eat and how to keep physically fit and active, so they don't become fat or obese. If children aren't taught the proper foods to eat, left unsupervised they will eat what ever they want too. when it isn't good for them, so doing this is not an option for your children. If our children eat a lot of empty calories, it will only make them gain unneeded weight. Here are some things we can do to help our children, start the day off right.

1.Prepare a hot breakfast for your children with old fashion oatmeal with cream and fresh fruit, or cream of wheat or farina with cream and fresh.

2.If this is to much for you to handle and you want simplicity with cold cereal then serve good wholesome wheat grain cereal, like shredded wheat,cheerios, raisin bran and any other cereal without processed sugar along with fresh fruit. When you start this regiment with your children at a young age, when they get older, they would have already adapted the idea of eating healthy meals and enjoying them.

3.If you make sandwiches for lunch, make sure you use whole wheat, multi grain or stone ground bread to make sandwiches. Never give your child white bread and they want look for it. by doing this they will adapt to eating only whole wheat bread without a problem.

4. Incorporate turkey, chicken, lamb and fish into your dinner menus, very little beef and pork. You should always buy tons of veggies and fresh fruits to have around the house, so when your children gets hungry, they will grab an apple or peaches, or grapes or nectarines instead of cookies or a candy bar. Your children can eat a lot of fruit without you worry about their weight gain.

5. You can make a vegetable tray for healthy snacks for your children, by fixing celery sticks. brocolli florets, baby carrots, cucumber slice, cauliflower with some light ranch dressing to dabble in.

6.if you want a sweet treat for your children you can make a fruit tray with sliced apples, peaches, nectarines, and whole strawberries with cream cheese dip. I know the children will love these healthy treats and they will make this a habit, if you reinforcing it.

If you we teach them healthy eating habits. You want have to worry about their health. If we let them have the run of the kitchen and refrigerator we will be creating unhealthy monsters, that's eating up everything in site. Just because it's there for the taking. We also have to teach them responsibility, so they will know how to really take good care of themselves. This is the same advice, I'm sure the doctor will give you. I just want us to have healthier children and not fat obese children, struggling to get around. We should teach our children activities they like doing, like dancing or basketball and foot ball. We should participate with them also and this will be a healthy adventure for whole family. We should get then away from the xbox, and other such games, because they need to move and be pro-active. If we give them the right stuff to put into their bodies, they will have enough energy and stamina to do anything physical. Oh, I forgot one thing, throw away the sugar, because it causes most of our problems and don't buy sugar sweetened cereals and very little candy, cookies, cake and pops, not even diet pops because they aren't healthy either.

I suggest plenty of water, gatorade and vitamin waters, if they need something extra to drink. I realize that many children has grown past the state of eating healthy, but that doesn't mean you can't still try to turn it around for them. All I'm saying is for the young mothers that have very young children, to start now teaching them the proper nutrition and good eating habits, so they can remain healthy individuals the rest of their lives.

      creativeone59: you said a mouthful (pardon the pun)let's get back to basics. I've noted from reading and listening to folks about their lifestyles that so many parents have become lazy and eating out is par for the course.

      Your suggestions are exactly what our young need. Start them off as soon as they can eat table food and this will create a lifestyle they will not stray.

      Love your hub, I truly believe in teaching kids how to eat healthy. Some parents think that just because their kids are very active they can eat anything and burn it off, but that's not the case. You have to teach your kids about healthy eat for better health and longer life. I'm so glad that I don't have that problem, I eat healthy most times, my kids love their veggies and fruit because they know that if they eat healthy they are doing good and they like that. Nice article

      Your hub is full of good advice. Obesity causes many more problems than people will admit. It,s hard not to eat chocolate for me, most of the time i stay strong, but i give in once-in-a-while, then feel guilty.

      I think the problem with children is the adults that set the example and buy the food. If parents set a good example by eating healthy and excersising, children will follow especially if there is no junk food in the fridge or cupboard. Great topic! Like your style!
