An headache can me extremely excruciating, especially when it comes on to migraine headaches. Your eyes hurt so bad and feel as if they want to pop out of your skull. You become so sensitive to the slightest noise and you transform into a creature of the night as you cannot stand any bright light. But there are some natural ways to get rid of common headaches other than gulping down those everyday pills.

Classes of Headaches

Headaches are put in two class:

  • Primary: This is the common headache syndrome which are, tension, migraine and cluster. The tension headaches are the most common and are usually treated with over the counter drugs such as Panadol, Excedrin, Advil and many more. Migraine headaches are triggered by certain conditions of the individual.
  • Secondary:Secondary headaches are a symptom of an injury or an underlying illness. People who have had experience some sort of accidental injury to the head are prone to these triggering headaches. Depending on the individual, these headaches are treated with prescribed medication and even over the counter drugs.

What Causes headaches

Many things may bring on tension headaches, but the most common cause is long period of tension and high levels of stress. These headaches are tension headaches and muscle contraction headaches. Most person can attest to suffering from this at some time. Stress can cause the muscles in your face, scalp and neck to spasm and bring aches.

Common migraine triggers include:

  • Hormonal changes in women
  • Foods. Aged cheeses, salty foods and processed foods may trigger migraines
  • Food additives
  • Drinks
  • Stress
  • Sensory stimuli
  • Changes in wake-sleep pattern
  • Physical factors
  • Eye Strain

Avoid any noticeable thing that contributes to you migraine being triggered. In migraines, resting of the eyes periodically is also helpful.

How To Stop These Migraine Headaches Naturally

People suffer from headaches almost everyday. Headache relief and pain relif pills are best sellers in pharmacies. Lets look at some of the natural ways we can get rid of headaches without becoming a pill putter.

Believe it or not, (Sorry Ripley), if the body becomes too dehydrated and stay that way for a long period, it is possible that you will suffer from a headache. If you feel dehydrated (lips may be dry, eyes a bit sunken) and feel an headache coming along, try get as much water in your system as possible. It is recommended to drink at least two full glasses and continue with small water sips throughout the day.

Lemon and Water

Lime juice and water can help to reduce fatty belly tissues. Now I am pleased to add more to the power of the lemon. Lemon juice and water are good combination agents that help to alleviate tension headaches. This particular home remedy is beneficial when headache is caused due to gas in the stomach.

The Old Ice Pack

Yes, grandma's old remedy is still effective. Headaches love heat, sometimes you feel like your head is beating like an african Drum. Ice pack helps to relax the muscles on your scalp and forehead which tenses up and causes the headache. Place ice pack on your forehead for one minute intervals for at least 15 minutes, You should notice a reduction in pain.

Reduce Lighting or Avoid Bright Lights

Some tension or even migraine headaches are triggered by the straining of the muscles in the eye. This can be caused from long reading in poor lighting, an eye condition or even using a computer for long hours. You should reduce bright lighting around you. Close your eyes awhile and rest. It would also be good to apply all of the above natural remedies also, especially the ice - pack.

Warm Shower Reduces Headaches

Warm shower

Grab a warm shower and relieve those muscles causing your tension headaches. When heat is applied it relaxes the tense muscles thus giving relief from the throbbing pain. Just take a long and relaxing bath or shower and your tension muscles will begin to feel the soothing of the warmth and they will begin to relax. If possible, bath with chamomile soap.

Make Love

It is quite arguable, but many persons have testified (including myself) that sex can and does relief an individual from a tension headache. Sex may also relieve migraine pain for some people who suffer from the intense headaches. Research as shown in its findings; published in the march issue of the journal Cephalalgia, found that sexual activity relieved the pain of migraines or cluster headaches, severe, one-sided recurring head pains, for up to a third of patients. Some of the patients even reported using sex as a kind of headache therapy. A study was completed in Germany and suggested that one third of the people who suffered sever migraine and tension headcahes found releif after sexual activities. (study researcher Stefan Evers, a neurologist and headache specialist at the University of Münster in Germany.)

Researchers don't really know why headaches can be relieved by having sex (Maybe a question for the creator), but they believe this happens, hypothesize that the rush of endorphins, the brain's natural painkillers, during sex may numb the pain of migraines. This remedy makes me suddenly have a headache coming!

Yes! Sex Can Cure Headaches! Try it today

Get Some Rest

If you are tired and stressed, Your body will react negatively to forced pressure and will begin to talk to you telling you that it needs rejuvenation. The Lack of sleep may lead you right to the door steps of a tension headache. Throw out the hammock, let your self swing to sleep and relieve that headache.

Apple Cedar Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has been used in the natural treatment of so many illnesses. Some modern day studies have proven its effectiveness in treating certain illnesses, but most of its clout lies in the reports of people throughout the centuries who have benefited from it. If you find yourself coming down with a throbbing headache, try getting some quality Apple Cedar Vinegar into your day.

Listen Soothing Music

Music can work wonders, put in some beautiful relaxing music, even environmental sounds are good, such as sweet bird chirps, wind blowing, tree whistle and water running by the creek. for some people it is a quick relaxer and reduces stress level and tension and indirectly headache pains.

Have Some Coffee

The caffeine in coffee is a vasoconstrictor, it can help alleviate a headache by helping to reduce the size of the blood vessels. You need to just have a cup or two, too much coffee could make matters worse.

Have Some Yogurt

If the body is low on calcium, it could trigger a headache. The brain uses calcium to operate normally. If it doesn't see this inflow in blood, it will signal that you are lacking by triggering of periodic headaches. The natural thing to do is consume calcium enriched foods such as fat free yogurts.

Headaches can be quite a terrible thing, especially migraine types. You owe it to your body to try natural god given solutions first before going pharmaceutical. Everyone's body is different and react differently to foods, medication and even the environment, so stuff that may work well with one person may not do so well with another. Natural healing is always good because you rarely ever have any side effects like pills. The pills we take today rectify one issue and creates a million more! They are quite dangerous if you ask me. But if for some reason you try these methods and you cannot bare the pain. There is always the pharmacy.

I get more headaches due to allergies than anything else, but if I get a non-sinus allergy headache I'll definitely try some of these remedies because I don't like taking any medicine unless absolutely necessary.

I don't suffer from them, but I have friends that do, and I'm all for ditching the pills. I'll share this with them.
