How Will You Burn Calories Today?
Feel the burn and burn calories
Something most of us prefer not to think about is burning calories, but we should. This process doesn't have to be torture. It can be fun.
Consider it an adventure to discover new and challenging ways to find a way to fit the flab. We all have excuses.
I'm too busy, too tired, still have to finish off that bowl of ice cream...the list is endless.
I'm always seeking out unique ways to burn calories. Whether by gardening, playing with my grandkids or just by using the stairs instead of the elevator. I always feel like I accomplished something good for my heart after a successful calorie burn.
Once you get into a routine and notice a difference in the way your clothes fit that routine will become a way of life. Challenge yourself to burn as many calories in a day as you possibly can. Don't just sit there...you have to move it to lose it.
Brush and stretch
You burn calories by simply brushing your teeth. Really you do!
Not that many, so how about stretching and tightening your legs while maintaining your pearly whites?
Slowly raise onto your tippy toes and slowly lower your feet to a standing position....repeat the process.
Go ahead and try it.
Coffee and a lunge
While waiting for your coffee to finish perking how about doing some lunges?
Lunges are beneficial for the core area and the legs.
Besides the calorie burn (not coffee burn) you will also develop your leg muscles.
Start with five lunges per leg and build up to as many as you desire.
Stairs vs Elevator
If you have stairs walk up and down the stairs for a burn. Elevators are the easy way.
We all need a good challenge and sometimes easy isn't always a good thing.
I avoid the elevator whenever possible and always look for the stairs.
Challenge yourself and take two stairs at a time. Stand straight, look forward and march on.
My favorite toning exercise is push ups. Push ups condition the entire body!
Anytime you pass a countertop in your home just drop and give yourself 20.
Yep, there is no need to get down on the ground anymore as long as your body is in the correct position these push ups serve their purpose.
Feel free to perform this act in public, but you might receive a few quizzical glances from passerbys. This routine can become addictive.
We never forget how to ride a bike ...
Instead of driving how about dusting off your bicycle and taking it out for a spin?
With the money you save on gas you can purchase stylish accessories for your new wheels.
That cute little bell to warn pedestricians you are approaching or a neat license plate that says "I'm in for burning calories."
Correct your posture. Sit straight. Yes, you! Stop slouching!
By sitting straight and tightening your core muscles you are burning calories and strengthening your abs.
Instead of drinking a six-pack consider showing yours off one day. Soon.
The Car Wash
It's so easy to just drive over to the local car wash or gas station to wash your vehicle. How about just cleaning your car yourself?
All you need is a bucket, hose, cloth for drying, sponge and some soap. Think about the fun you could have!
Wear your swimwear (if you are daring enough), blast some summer tunes and dance away as you scrub away the dirt that has accumulated. The calorie burn will surely be beneficial.
Mow the lawn
Let's not forget about lawn care. Someone has to tend to the yard. We could hire a maintenance company to come and do the job, but who gets the calorie burn? No one.
Most likely they are sitting on mowers. This is where the pushmower comes in. Not only are you burning calories and getting a decent cardio workout, but you could also work on your tan.
These are reasons I enjoy mowing the yard plus the power of the mower .... vrrroom!!!
The above are just some suggestions. There are many, many more. Just use your imagination and enjoy the new you!
