Utilizing What God Gave Us To Enhance Our Health

In my visceral source of depression due to #menopause, I sought help through reflexology. Thelma Carole Edwards, answered the call and helped me remember that our Grand Creator gave us the wonderful ability, for body rejuvenation. Through #reflexology, my depression was reduced and I felt so much better. The morbid fear of not fully understanding what was wrong, diminished and I was able to breathe again. Why would something like reflexology have such an effect on my mental capacity? In an article entitled, #What Is Reflexology, by Barbara & Kevin Kunz, "Reflexology is the practice of applying pressure to the feet and hands utilizing specific thumb, finger and hand techniques without the use of oil, cream or lotion based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands with a premise that such work effects a physical change in the body."

Thelma started out by informing me what areas she would be focusing on and why.The reflex area of my foot reflected the neck/brain stem. This was the exterior of my big toe on both feet. From the mid section down to the end of this toe dealt with my mental stress. Thelma showed me a chart to help me understand the benefits of working on the entire feet. During my reflexology treatment, I remained fully dressed as the procedure was carried out. The caliber of this treatment, made me feel better mentally. I was able to function again without the unnerving feeling of stress and anxiety, previously felt. I am not a physician nor do I claim to have some source of profound, medical incentive. My reflexology treatment gave me a pure sense of #mental gratification; without the arduous selection, of what medication to take. I am convinces that reflexology is a complement to standard medical care.

The benefits of reflexology were immediately felt from the point of contact by Thelma. Her soothing voice and melodious sounds helped me to focus, as well as relax. "In general terms, the benefit of reflexology have to do with the reduction of stress. Because the feet and hands help set the tension level for the rest of the body, they are an easy way to interrupt the #stress signal and reset homeostasis, the body's equilibrium," as explained by Barbara & Kevin Kunz. This article also presents research and studies on how, "the stimulation of reflexology's pressure techniques creates change in the body's basic level of tension as demonstrated by research showing that reflexology relaxes the body using a variety of measurements: #brain waves (EEG), blood pressure, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, pulse rates and anxiety." None of this information should be "construed as medical advice. It should not be a replacement to medical help." Reflexology, was very beneficial for me individually.

Toward the end of my treatment, Thelma gave me a wonderful surprise, #The Brazilian Toe Massage. She explained that this massage has been around for many years. Peter Edy, expressed how, "It sounds like a foot fetishist's favorite fantasy. In fact, it is yet another form of pressure point massage healing." Thelma's discreet technique of "toe holding," brought subtle tears to my eyes. Not due to some intense source of pain but a feeling of wave manipulation. From my feet to the top of my head, I felt a flow of liquids penetrating my body. It was an awesome feeling. My treatment was gradually over and I felt elated. My panicky feelings had disappeared. I thanked my Heavenly Father #Jehovah and Thelma, for the relief. My Creator, has given me a body that can rejuvenate itself through such things as reflexology. I was reminded of what King David said concerning how we are made. "I will give thanks unto thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are thy works; And that my soul knoweth right well." Holy Bible American Standard Version Reflexology was a tremendous source of help to me during my source of mental stress and depression. I will definitely try it again, if I am ever confronted with these feelings again.

I think the above post is a really interesting post.

It not only shows how important reflexology is but also shows and gives a lot of information for the beginners to understand it. A very helpful post will let people understand what reflexology is and how it can be helpful to them.

      Hi Klurbauer,

Thanks for your response to my article. I must admit if you are ticklish, the Brazilian toe massage might work out nicely because the toes were barely touched but the effect was amazing. Hopefully, you will get to try it in the future.

Good work on this article. I loved how detailed your explanation of your experience was. The Brazilian toe massage sounds very interesting -- I was intrigued by the thought but I don't know if I would enjoy the experience or feet are quite ticklish. I love to try reflexology sometime though. I haven't had the opportunity yet but your story definitely made me put on my list of things to do. Thanks for sharing. Voted up!
