How I Cure My Flu in One Day Using Natural Remedies
Before I discovered a natural treatment process that cures my flu faster, I used to really suffer from this infection. I used to go through several of its symptoms, including sore throat and body aches, for more than a week.
In case you don't understand what exactly is flu (or influenza), this is a viral infection that affects the upper respiratory system, especially the throat and nostrils. According to my own experience, the disease is worse than similar infections such as common cold and whooping cough.
The viral illness is quite infectious, and according to WHO, it affects millions of people everyday worldwide. In the US, at least one billion cases of the diseases are reported every year.
So how do you know that you have the flu? Well, if you have the following symptoms, you are highly likely to be infected by the disease.
- Sore throat and/or cough
- Body aches, including headaches
- Fever (over 100˚F)
- Stuffy or runny nose
- Vomiting and diarrhea
I used to go for antiviral medications or antibiotics when I was struck by the flu, but what I didn’t know is that this infection couldn't and can't be cured easily with medication. So how did I start curing my flu fast without medicine? Well, here are the home remedies that I use to heal my flu naturally within one day.
In brief, how I treat my flu quickly and in a natural way.
1. Decongesting my nasal passages with a nasal spray or saline solution.
2. Gargling my throat with a warm, saline solution to cure the infection.
3. Using a mentholated cream under my nose.
4. Using cold packs to treat fever caused by the infection.
5. Drinking hot liquids.
6. Eating foods that fight the infection.
7. Taking a warm shower.
8. Staying warm and relaxed to heal from the illness.
1. Decongesting My Nasal Passages with a Nasal Spray or Saline Solution
Flu causes swelling and congestion in my nasal ways (like any other victim), and I usually ease these symptoms by applying nasal sprays on my nostrils. Some good nasal sprays that I use include Neo-Synephrine and Afrin.
But most of the times that I have this infection I make my own saline spray at home. I do this by mixing ¼ teaspoon baking soda and ¼ teaspoon salt in ¼ liter of warm water.
When it comes to applying the saline solution, I use a suitable syringe to spray the nasal liquid two times in each of my nostrils. The nasal spray cleans my nostrils off virus and bacteria particles.
2. Gargling My Throat with a Warm, Saline Solution to Cure the Flu
In order to make this gargling solution, I dissolve a teaspoonful of salt in warm water. And when it comes to using it, I gargle my throat 4 times throughout the day.
Gargling moistens my throat, healing the sore on it. According to my own experience, it is better to gargle your throat after decongesting your nasal ways to wash away any pathogens remaining in the throat area.
Sometimes when making the saline solution I use salt alternatives such as pepper, sage, vinegar, honey and lemon.
3. Using a Mentholated Cream Under My Nose
First, mentholated creams are readily available, and personally I get them from my nearest drugstore. Second, when I have obtained the best cream, I just apply a small amount of it under my nose.
These creams clear out my breathing passages and prevent irritation inside my nostrils. Apart from mentholated creams, other creams that work best for me are those containing lemon.
4. Using Cold Packs to Treat Fever Caused by the Flu
I also get cold packs from my nearest drugstore, and when it comes to using them, I just place them on my forehead and around the sinuses. Sometimes I use a damp cloth instead- it provides the same relieving effect as the cold packs.
Cold packs reduce my body temperature and help me fight fever which accompanies the infection.
5. Drinking Hot Liquids
When I experience the first symptoms of flu, I start drinking liquids to remain well-hydrated throughout the healing period. I prefer them hot because they have an additional benefit of relieving my nasal from congestion.
I take at least 8 glasses of water as recommended by doctors, and I try to avoid liquids that cause dehydration, such as alcoholic beverages. One drink that has been working best for me is herbal tea with some honey added onto it.
6. Eating Foods That Fight Flu
Some foods contain important elements and compounds that battle the flu, and I usually eat a lot of these foods when I get infected by the disease. For example, I eat blueberries which contain a natural aspirin that helps heal the fever and body aches associated with this infectious disease.
Other foods that I eat to cure the flu fast include: bananas, peppers, carrots, rice, mustard and onions.
7. Taking a Warm Shower
A warm shower moisturizes my airways and nasal passages. I usually take the shower with the bathroom door closed to avoid cold air which can alleviate symptoms such as chills and fever.
While taking the warm shower, the mucus in my nostrils becomes less viscous- something which allows me to blow it out with much ease. This opens my nostrils further.
8. Staying Warm and Relaxed to Heal from the Flu
Since the immune system works better when the body is in a resting mode, I usually avoid the chores and get enough rest during the recovery day.
I wear heavy clothes to remain warm over the remaining hours of the day. When I go to bed, I keep monitoring myself and taking any necessary measures to ensure that I heal from the infection fully.
Here Are Some Tips That I Employ To Cure My Flu Quickly
- Having a humidifier in my room to boost breathing.
- Blowing my nose when it gets congested.
- Sleeping at an angle that helps relieve my congested nasal ways.
- Using a heavy, warm blanket to fight chills.
- Taking medications that fight flu-like symptoms.
- Avoiding flying as much as possible.

Using these natural remedies for flu, you can't suffer from the annoying symptoms of the infectious disease for a long time. Some people stay with the symptoms for as long as two weeks. Personally, I used to suffer from the viral disease for more than a week.
