Nuts and Seeds
Fats...yes! We are talking about the healthy fats though. Like those you find in nuts, peanut butter, and seeds. No matter what time of day or where I go, I always have some sort of nuts or seeds with me. They are a quick easy and energizing snack for anytime of day. Plus they have a pretty good protein amount. Be careful not to go overboard though, just a handful will do. My absolute favorite are almonds. Opt for all natural instead of salted. The salt content in most nuts or seeds is very high.
Luckily, I have found some stores that carry some of my favorite brands in portion size pouches and for a mere $1.00, how could you not stock up! Peanut butter toast with a cup of fruit on the side, and you have a healthy, balanced breakfast!

Beef Jerky? No way! Yes, you heard it right. Beef Jerky is a yummy snack that's packed full of protein. You need plenty of protein in your diet to be healthy and it helps to suppress your appetite. The only problem with this delicious snack is the sodium content. Be sure to read all food package labels and pick one with a fairly low sodium content. A lot of salt in your diet ultimately leads to bloating. You also want to make sure to drink plenty of water to replace any water salt strips from your body. For an even healthier variation, try turkey jerky. It is just as yummy!
There are many different variations of yogurt out there, so you want to make sure you pick the ones that are healthy for a good diet. Greek yogurt is at the top with many benefits to your diet. You want to stay away from ones that have a lot of sugar, preservatives, and artificial ingredients. The plainer the yogurt, the better it is for you. If the taste of plain yogurt turns your stomach as much as it does mine, not to worry as there are plenty of healthy ways to fancy up that yogurt in ways that are yummy and still great for your waistline. Try adding some fresh fruit to your yogurt for a sweet tooth, or some all natural granola for a great morning pick me up and energy.
My life would cease to exist if I couldn't have my peanut butter! But guess what? It doesn't have to because peanut butter is great for a healthy diet as long as it is eaten in moderation. Think in the morning on a piece of whole grain toast, or a healthy snack in the afternoon with celery or apples you can dip in peanut butter. My favorite treat? Peanut butter and banana sandwiches are to die for! Be sure to pick an all natural peanut butter with a low sodium and low sugar content.
Water is one of the best tools out there for a good diet and a healthy lifestyle. So, why am I including it on a healthy snack list? For many reasons, water helps in dropping pounds in any individual. It has ZERO everything. Zero calories, zero carbohydrates, zero sugar, and zero sodium. Just think about how calories you could save by replacing one or more soft drinks a day with a tall, cold glass of water! Water is essential for keeping us flushed out and hydrated. When you incorporate water into your everyday routine, it won't be long for you to notice the difference. You'll have more energy, clearer skin, softer hair, and so much more.
One of the most valuable features of water is it is a complete appetite suppression. The majority of people out there mistake their thirst for hunger, so they eat more and drink less leading ultimately to dehydration. Before any meal or snack, try drinking a full glass of water. Then wait a few minutes and see if your hunger goes away. If it did that was your thirst calling out for your attention!

How often do you include healthy snacks into your everyday life?
Fuel your body, don't stuff your body!
As always, be sure to consult a physician before trying any weight loss regimen. Your physician will have the best advice for you. Also, with any healthy lifestyle, exercise is also recommended. Be sure to keep all your meals healthy and balanced, not just your snacks. Yes, that includes dessert! Dessert can be healthy, too. Instead of a heaping bowl of ice cream, try an all natural frozen fruit bar, or a bowl of fresh strawberries or any fruit of your choice and some low-fat whipped topping to dip them in. Delicious! Happy eating everyone!
