Now you have heard about things that can give you 30 years longer to live. Smoking can shorten your lifetime so you can live that much longer if you want to.
They used to say that every 15 minutes of smoking shortens your life by 15 minutes. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC) says that cigarette smoking causes about one of every five deaths in America.
This article was written September 8, 2015. Now are you aware that webMD says that there is something that over 99% of people do that is worse than smoking? About 18% of American adults smoke. So whatever that thing is, if people would stop it, they can live longer than if they stopped smoking.
I believe that the best way to give up smoking is to switch to the American Spirit kind so you will only be dealing with the tobacco instead of the 100+ additives that were added to make it impossible to stop. So what does webMD says that is worse than smoking cigarettes that 99% of people do? WebMD has an article called Cutting Salt as Good as Quitting Smoking. It says:
Jan. 22, 2010 -- Cutting U.S. salt intake by just half a teaspoon a day would prevent up to 92,000 deaths, 99,000 heart attacks, and 66,000 strokes -- a benefit as big as smoking cessation.
"The [heart] benefits of reduced salt intake are on par with the benefits of population-wide reductions in tobacco use, obesity, and cholesterol levels," says Kirsten Bibbins-Domingo, PhD.
Cutting daily salt intake by a half teaspoon -- about 3 grams -- would not be enough to bring most Americans down to the goal of 3.7 grams a day recommended for about 70% of adults. It wouldn't even get us down to the 5.8 grams a day recommended for lowest-risk adults.

Salt Shortens Your Life by 30 Years
Now cigarettes are not a food and are addictive. Salt is also not a food and addictive. See Why Salt is Addictive. It says:
The finding could help explain why many find it so hard to cut back on salt, despite warnings about dangers to blood pressure and heart health.
When the rodents were in need of salt, brain cells made proteins more usually linked to addiction to substances such as heroin, cocaine and nicotine.
Now wild animals do not consume salt and do not get high blood pressure, but that does not prove anything because correlation is not causation. So below is a causation experiment. Note that Paleo diet allows no salt in it.
PubMed Central that is part of the U.S. National Library of Medicine that is part of the National Institutes of Health has an article called Dietary Salt Intake and Hypertension. Hypertension is the same thing as high blood pressure. It says:
For millions of years, human beings ate very small amounts of salt (0.1-0.5 g/day)[100 to 500 mg a day].
A well-documented connection between hypertension and dietary salt intake has been demonstrated in various animals, especially in rats and chimpanzees.
Ball and Meneely18) reported that in groups of young adult rats that were fed different amounts of salt in their diet (0.15, 2.8, 5.6, 7.8, or 9.8%) with free access to distilled water, the average BP after 9 month increased proportionally to the amount of salt in their diet. A similar study had been performed in chimpanzees, which are genetically very close to humans, by Denton et al.19). Chimpanzees normally consume a diet low in salt, but when their salt intake increased to ~15 g/day for 20 months, they developed hypertension. The rise in BP was gradual and it was still rising 18 months after they started the high salt diet. Moreover, when the salt was reduced from the diet containing ~15 g salt/day to 0.5 g salt/day, blood pressure levels fell back to the original level after 6 months. In this study, we can see a progressive increase in BP with added salt and this was completely reversible when the added salt was stopped.
In other words rats and chimpanzees do not get hypertension unless they eat salt. A PubMed report, similar to PubMed Central is titled Should We Eat Less Salt? It says:
There is overwhelming evidence that high salt consumption is a major cause of increased blood pressure. There is also a link between high salt consumption and risk of stroke, left ventricular hypertrophy [enlargement and thickening (hypertrophy) of the walls of your heart's main pumping chamber (left ventricle)], renal disease [kidney failure], obesity, renal stones and stomach cancer. Reducing salt consumption leads to a decrease in blood pressure and the incidence of cardiovascular disease. There are no deleterious effects associated with reducing salt consumption and it is also very cost-effective.
Another PubMed study tells of a culture that eats no salt. Now I better tell about it in my own words or I will be using too many quotes. They are a tribe of people that live in the Brazil rain forest that do not use any salt. Then there is another PubMed study but it is also on another webpage that I will use so I do not have too many PubMed studies.
The Yanomami indians in the INTERSALT study tells about a study that was done with Yanomami indians and groups of people all over the world. It wanted to see how all sorts of people were affected by salt. Now the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) says that percentage of people with high blood pressure or hypertension go up as people age. The reason for that is everyone has hardening of the arteries as people age.
Forty percent of Americans age 40 or above have high blood pressure. Over 65% of people that are 65 and above have high blood pressure. Over 77% of Americans age 75 and above have high blood pressure. Joel Fuhrman M.D. (see below) says that everyone gets high blood pressure if they live long enough.
Well this shows that hardening of the arteries is only normal of people who use salt. So salt hardens the arteries. This study shows that while it is normal for people who eat salt to get hardening of the arteries, it also normal for people eat no salt do not get any hardening of the arteries. People of the tribe who eat no salt does not have their blood pressure go up that is normal for everyone else. Their blood pressure as a baby, continues through their old age and is about 95/61 for their whole life. None of them ever get high blood pressure.
Now there are lots of studies that purposefully done wrong or they lied on the results. I just read an article on this. But there are studies that show that the more salt you eat, the healthier you are. So people will quote those to show you that salt is good for you. Now I can see where the mistake is made that gives you the reverse effects.
In fact, I have a whole article on this called An Example of a Flawed Study on Health and Diet. It gives you example of studies that show that the more salt you consume, the less hardening of the arteries that you have. How can you argue with that.
In fact when Albert Einstein approached physics, it was a science that he loved but it contradicted itself. So he found the mistake and became known as the smartest man ever. Physics taught that the speed of light cannot change. It still teaches that. But studies showed that it did change. So it can not change but it did.
Einstein figured out the bizarre solution to this. The mistake was assuming things that were true that were actually false. He found that the speed of time could actually change or slow down. The faster something moved through space, the slower it moved through time.
He also found out that the distance or length of things could actually change. So a newspaper reporter said to Einstein that 100 top physicists say that his theory of relativity is nonsense. He said that if it was nonsense then it would take only one top physicist to say so. So what happened? An eclipse came and showed that they precisely matched Einstein's equations showing that his theory was fact, even if others could not understand it.
So now in school you can figure exactly out much time will slow down and how much objects contract. Einstein became a celebrity overnight. The front page of the New York Times said November 10, 1909:

This does not take near the intelligence to understand it. So what is wrong with the studies that showed the salt was good for you. They figured out that they would be more exact than estimating how much salt one consumed. They would measure how much salt one was urinating out. They assumed that the more you measure, the more you consumed.
What they assumed was the opposite. Studies show that the more sodium you ingest, the less you urinated out. Someone not eating anything at all (fasting) would urinate sodium faster than any other way. He would also get rid of a lot of water weight that he is carrying around that he does not need and that is causing blood pressure to be higher. That is how Beyoncé lost 20 pounds in 10 days on the lemonade diet. It contains no salt so she lost mostly water weight.
Another example of this would be a person smoking cigarettes. Who would have more nicotine and additives in their urine. Would it be the smoker or the guy who just quit and is not smoking at all? Guess! People assume salt is a food. It is not. It is a toxic chemical that people are addicted to. Also you can get the body to release more sodium by eating more potassium. Have you ever heard in your life that some people are supposed to eat more potassium? Keep this in mind. If your body gets rid of something (like sodium) it cannot hurt you. A study with calcium was done and they increased the amount in everyone's diet. It had no effect on osteoporosis. Yet every government page says to get enough calcium. This study showed that calcium in diet is not an issue. Calcium in urine is an issue. It gets urinated out when it must neutralize an acid. See The Real Cause of Osteoporosis. What subject is the study of minerals and their reactions? It is chemistry. I was a chemist for the U.S. federal government. Just to show what I am talking about-- what is a mineral? It is a metallic element on the periodic table.
Since salt is not a food it has no calories. But it makes you look fatter and heavier since it causes you to retain water. In fact if you go to The Worst Thing For Health That you Consume, you can see how much salt it takes to kill you and what is its LD50. That is the lethal dose that it takes to kill 50% of the population. It is only 1/4 as toxic as arsenic. Also you can see where in the world everything is dead and the cause of it is salt. When should you eat salt? What does salt water taste like. Eat it on Passover Seder! Wikipedia says: "The dipping of a simple vegetable bounces into salt water (which represents tears) mirrors the pain felt by the Hebrew slaves in Egypt." Elsewhere it says "Salt water symbolizes the tears and sweat of enslavement."
Many doctors order a salt-free diet. So many of Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona prisoners (he has a prison) are on a salt-free diet that he has no salt in any of his prison meals. Now great tasting fruits like watermelon, ripe honeydew and cantaloupe never need any salt. Did you know that our planet has over 10,000 different kinds of edible fruit?
Have you even tasted the best tasting fruits like the cherimoya (custard apple) that Mark Twain calls "the most delicious fruit known to man." Have you tasted the mangosteen that Queen Elizabeth says is the most delicious fruit, or soursop, pummelo, durian, saskatoon berries, lychee or cape gooseberry. One person says "I love, love, love lychees. I love how they smell. I love their texture and mouth feel. I love how they taste. The balance of delicate sweetness and tropical muskiness will remind you of grapes, pears and the perfume of tropical flowers." Note that they each taste unique like nothing else. Note that seeds and nuts are also fruits-- hard fruits.
Thousands are fruitarians since they do not kill any plants when they eat fruit or there are people who eat everything raw. Salt is not raw since it is a rock. How many different raw vegetables are there that you can put in a salad and use only EVOO (extra virgin olive oil), apple cider vinegar and lemon juice.
Many thousands are getting the benefits of no salt by eating an almost all raw diet and they have the most extreme health testimonials. Even Dr. Oz say that the healthiest foods are raw fruits and raw vegetables. He has gotten dramatic blood changes by people eating only these things for a few days. I did a search and some in the Paleo diet say not to eat any salt and some say to eat more salt. In case you did not know it, salt is not a food even though it is a high source of sodium. Rust is not a food even though it is a good source of iron. Chalk is not a food even though it is a high source of calcium.
