How to Remember to Smile More Often
Ways to Make You Smile
"When you're smiling the whole world smiles with you...." What better incentive to smile? How about this one, " If you're reading this...Congratulations, you're alive. If that's not something to smile about, then I don't know what is.” ― Chad Sugg, Monsters Under Your Head. I hope that made you smile.
Admit it, doesn't everybody look better when they smile? Really, have you seen a homely baby that smiles all the time and just looks beautiful? (Sorry homely baby.) Or that guy down the street that's always smiling it makes you want to get to know him?
Its easy to smile, honest. It doesn't take a lot of hard work, your face can fall into a smile with very little effort. Of course there is a difference between the 'fake' smile and the 'genuine' smile. The fake smile is used in polite situations or with strangers while the genuine smile is used when we are genuinely happy.

Different Kinds of Smiles
“Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing.”
― Mother Teresa
So we've mentioned fake smile and genuine smile, what other kinds of smile are there? Well, what about the smile you show when you're in love? We could call it a contented smile. What about the "know it all" smile? When you know something no one else knows and it makes you feel good.
How about when you've accomplished something you've wanted to do for a long time? Would you call that the satisfaction smile? What about that 'sexy' smile or that come hither smile?
I bet you could add to this list with just a moment's thought. When you're being shy or coy you smile...some people smile when they are guilty.
There are tons of different kinds of smiles.

How to Remember to Smile More Often
Can you forget to smile? Probably not when you're really happy but, what about other times? When you're walking down the street and pass a stranger, do you smile?
So, how do you remember to smile more often? First and foremost, think happy thoughts. No, I know you're not Pollyanna, but, it never hurts to smile. You know someone with a smile on their face seems warm and friendly so why not smile.
Think about the good things in your life, your spouse, your children, aren't they worth smiling about? Smiling can make you feel better too. Thinking about all the benefits of smiling might help you to remember to smile. Smiling sends a message to your brain that you are happy, even if you're not.
"...despite our inherited level of happiness, and despite the complexities of our lives, a whopping 40% is due to our behavior, over which we do have control."(1) So, what that means is you can make yourself happy by smiling. That's one good reason to remember to smile.
Stop and appreciate what's around you. When you see a beautiful flower or plant, smile. When you see a group of children playing, smile. How about that poor soul who just stepped in a puddle and got soaking wet...a little smile might help make them feel better.
Little tricks in your brain can help you remember to smile. The more you smile, the more others around you will smile. One day, make it a practice to smile at everyone you do business with; a cashier, a parking lot attendant, a grocery store clerk, the mailman, anyone. Another day, keep a tune in your head and smile as you go to and from work. Smile every time you say thank you. Practicing smiling will help you to remember to smile.
Everyone deserves a smile. How nice it is to see a smile on someone's face. Why not make someone else happy by putting a smile on your face?
The more often you smile, the more often you will remember to smile. Keep smiling!
