How to Tell If You Need Mental Health Counseling?
Are You Depressed?
Undergo Mental Health Counseling, If Your Days Are Unbearable
You will intuitively know when you need to seek mental health counseling because your every waking day will feel unbearable. You’ll either be very argumentative about simple issues or be terribly worried and fixated on a particular emotion or situation. For the life of you, you’ll not be able to shake these dreadful feelings off. You’ll wonder why everyone is on the defensive towards you. You'll probably be focused on thinking about past events all the time.
You’ll eventually feel shut in, and not open to living a carefree existence; similar to the people you know, love and respect. You may refuse to socialize, or turn into a relentless troublemaker! You may feel odd and down, and feel depressed or over the top. This could last for days or months. By this time, you’ll desperately need to speak to a professional therapist for comfort or else face losing your ability to communicate with the world with tact.
A Caring Counselor Will Know How to Put Your Mind at Ease
Feelings of dread may come about when you've recently lost a loved one or are alone for an extended period of time without any type of physical contact. You could feel lost and suffer a broken heart from an ended spousal relationship or tie in general. These feelings are reasonable, and you should seek professional counsel for help to sort out your emotions if you feel too drab. This is a terrible time to battle, and being alone for extended periods of time might put your life in danger. An objective ear will definitely help you to shed light on your gloomy situation.
If you were laid off from work or unluckily loose your leg from an accident, you'll definitely have plenty of stress, since you may have a stiff time meeting your obligations and caring for your basic needs. A caring counselor will know how to put your mind at ease. He will aid you to redefine and make sense of the new life you are dreadfully facing.
Under no circumstance should you opt to follow a regiment of ingesting mental health medications, unless you are suffering from acute psychiatric symptoms such as hallucinations, suicidal thoughts or anorexia?
All feelings and bouts of depression and mania are successfully alleviated with energy and calming herbs when coupled with exercise and by sticking to a healthy eating plan or diet.
Depression drugs akin to Zoloft and Prozac do more harm than good! They should only be taken if you’re experiencing a mental disease similar to deep depression, but not when you’re simply in need of psychotherapy or a psychologist.
If You're Hallucinating or Suffer Thoughts of Suicide, Seek Help
You'll know when you need extra help because you'll not be able to live your life. Delusional thoughts may take over. You'll be misinterpreting your surroundings and your life will be in drastic danger since you won't understand what is going on around you.
If you feel like harming others, please, restrain yourself and go to the nearest hospital. These feelings are not normal.
If You Suffer a Psychotic Break, Please Don't Despair!
Even, if you dreadfully regress to a frightful condition of hallucinogenic warning signs don’t ever feel like your life is over. You'll be forced into following a regiment of ingesting psychiatric drugs to live a meaningful life. Hopefully, one day you'll be gainfully employed again. Your doctor’s plan for your wellness is for your own good.
If you’re plunged under the care of a psychiatrist through no fault of your own after an emergency-room visit, please don't despair. Or, conversely, a family member decided you were in dire need of mental health drugs, because of a stinky behavior pattern; don’t waste your time on holding a grudge! It's not worth it! I personally heard of doctors (MD's and psychiatrists) who murdered their patients because they were too sick.
The first road to recovery whenever you have a psychotic break is to follow the advice of your therapist or doctor. This will help you get back on your feet. This in no way entails you’re a failure or will need to take psychiatric medications for life.
Force Yourself to Think Smart
At this point, you must force yourself to think smart, once you begin to feel better and are stable. In time, this will permit you to seek the help of a holistic doctor who can run a battery of tests for food allergies, organ malfunction, and chemical sensitivities. This also gives you an avenue to revise the status of your health, emotional well-being and what caused you to suffer a psychotic break from reality in the first place. I believe stress is the culprit to psychiatric problems.
Now, if you smoke or drink alcoholic beverages, stop! If you love coffee, opt to drink a substitute such as the ones that are made with chicory root. Real coffee contains caffeine and it has been proven that caffeine and additives in coffee affect the nervous system. This can put you at risk of experiencing a nervous breakdown if you take in too much and suffer insomnia.
You should reduce your sugar intake too, and refute foods known as excitotoxins since they are too stimulating for the delicate nervous system of people with mental issues. Over time, you’ll feel much better, except, you must have the patience to do what is needed to recover fully. That is in your best interest.
