How to heal. Parts of the body do not get sick the whole body does.

Updated on February 28, 2014

I do not care how you meditate on wellness or who you pray to, just do it.

Why not? Just focus on something and ask it to help you.

As people we accept the sickness of a part of us as ours.

I have never heard someone say "my head has a cold" we say that I have a head cold. And we say we have an infection not that our finger has one. Though we may say "I have an infected finger".

So why is it the westerners have just accepted the notion of health care being the getting rid of a disease rather than the curing of the body. It even goes against our speech patterns but we just accept the idea as the way it is. Full absurdity!

(I must say that from my adopted German American family some things stayed in translation which my mother loved. One never did anything with the hair on one's head the "combed the hairs on the head". Which of course led my mother to declare that her hairs hurt --- if she had a headache. And that still makes me giggle as she was a great Register Practical Nurse and would treat her hairs with an aspirin ;-)

So let us look at the wonderful approach to healing all kinds of stuff by healing the body.

Momma Had beautiful dark red hairs.

Wonderful is a mother who can kiss an ow wee away. It is the love that heals.

We really do not care where we find it, find love to heal.

Did you know that up until the 1970's or so most moms checked their child's temperature by kissing the child on the forehead. This is very true - ask any mom from that time. And remember or ask your father or mother who were the children. Every night we got a kiss good night and sometimes certain things would happen. And we would usually feel better in the morning.

Dr. Hugh Dierker could very accurately gauge a temperature from a patients breath. Probably he had 1,000 double checks with a thermometer to back him up in his medical practice. But the Doc would not try to get rid of the temperature. His practice was to find the cause. High Temperatures actually defeat a whole bunch of stuff while they do the body very little harm. (be reasonable in reading that please)

It would seem very reasonable that the personal interaction between two people is the beginning of a cure for most ailments. That is love.

When interviewing 200 patients who admitted to suicidal ideologies (that means thinking about doing it) some psychologists found that over 80% of those folks were stop by kind words from a total stranger. Of course most of the others from kind words from friends and family, with only about 2% stopping on their own from either fright or divine or police type intervention.

Probably those numbers are skewed somehow but even being off by a bit they are instructive.

Let us review a little story about human touch.

You will get by.

So a priest told me this story.

A new priest had been assigned a position in a tough district. He was assigned to the homeless shelter. On his second night a man came in that was so encrusted with dirt and sores covering his body that he wanted to call an ambulance for him. The man got violent and caused quite a stir so the priest said "alright let us help you get cleaned up and OK to stay here for the night. The man again got angry and refused to leave but refused to get clean. It was a dangerous and unhealthy situation so the priest sat near him and prayed and tried to calm the man.

Finally the priest gave up and called the Sister lady in charge of the place and she arose and came quickly. The sister went right up and sat down right next to the man. After a time she reached out and held his hand. Within a few minutes the man agreed to abide and get cleaned up and did well and now has a job and an apartment his own. He came back to the shelter to help and one day the priest asked him what made him turn his life around.

And the man responded that that night was the first time anyone had actually touched him in 10 years.

Who have you healed today?

You can do it, do you want to?

See results

That human touch is remarkable.

The picture would not be so widespread and popular if the children were not holding hands.

We can be touched and healed by other things. I chose God but you can chose the sun.

WE attribute to Carly Simon and I think that is correct but we must change it through commentary to make it appropriate here. It also will not be complete. I think readers respect that.

Carly Simon -- Touched by the Sun
Album: Letters Never Sent

Lyrics:
If you wanna be brave
And reach for the top of the sky
And the farthest point on the horizon
Do you know who you'll meet there?
Great soldiers and seafarers,
Artists and dreamers
Who need to be close, close to the light
They need to be in danger of burning by fire

And I, I wanna get there
I, I wanna be one
One who is touched by the sun,
One who is touched by the sun

These lyrics above are moving and helpful to realize we all have different ways of healing, and what we need to touch to get well may also be very different.

Often I want to walk
The safe side of the street
And lull myself to sleep
And dull my pain
But deep down inside I know
I've got to learn from the greats,
Earn my right to be living,
Let my wings of desire
Soar over the night
I need to let them say
"She must have been mad"

Some healings seem crazy and that is just because they make no sense to us.

I've got to learn from the greats,
Earn my right to be living,
With every breath that I take,
Every heartbeat
And I, I wanna get there
I, I wanna be one,
One who is touched by the sun,
One who is touched by the sun.

Now you may be thinking this works for mental issues but not physical.

Well you may be right and then again you may be wrong. And I no some hard heads that think there is only one part of the body -- the body. But far more people think that there is some version of Mind, Body and Soul. Truly some folk think that the mind is just part of the body and all that goes on there is what we can see or touch or hear...... And that there is no combination of thought and life that is soul or spirit. That is OK, but to be honest those folks usually seem so full of themselves that they just think they are some kind of higher power by their intellect. Boring!

Let us just give a simple example. A wife is just the most worst massager in the world but the husbands' back is all knotted up and his neck is on fire with tension. The wife massages the husband and his aches and pains fade away as she tries and asks about his day and he unloads his stress. His aching dissipates. And an amorous episode ensues. And now all the worries and the pain is gone in a sweet embrace.

If someone denies that that ever happens we should fall down and sorry for them. Is that a touching healing miracle. Normally drugs and professional therapy would be employed.

So I say again "the aching back does not have a problem" the body does and it can be healed with love.

You are right. The body is a whole and the mind, body and soul work together.

One night I was lying awake in the darkness thinking about life and death and other nightmarish realities and I felt so all alone in the world and couldn't sleep. By chance, my wife rolled over and put her arm on me as she slept and all my problems disappeared from that touch. I was not alone anymore and so now I roll over and let her know that she is not alone either. Thanks and have a nice weekend.
