What is BMR or Basal Metabolic Rate

BMR or Basal Metabolic Rate is defined as the total amount of energy (in terms of calories) is required by the body if it is lying in the bed all day. That means of you don't do any physical task, then this is the total energy your body require to make sure your internal organs are working fine. BMR keep changing with different stages of life. In young age, BMR is high and start decreasing as you grow older. It is also dependent on your body mass. Its higher if your body mass is high and lower if your body mass is low.

Conversion Formulas:

Height Conversion:

• To Convert Inches into CM: Inches * 2.54 = CM
• To Convert CM into Inches: CM * .3937008 = Inches

Weight Conversions:

• To convert Pounds into KG: KG * 2.2 = Pounds
• To convert KG into Pounds: Pounds / 2.2 = KG

Calculate BMR (kilos and centimeter)

1. First Calculate your height and weight in centimeter & kilos:

2. Use the following formula to calculate BMR:

Males: 66 + ( 13.75 * Weight ) + ( 5 * Height) - ( 6.76 x Age )
Females: 655 + ( 9.6 * Weight ) + ( 1.8 * Height ) - ( 4.7 x Age )

How to calculate BMR (Pounds & inches)

1. First convert your height & weight in inches and pounds respectively.

2. Use the following formula to calculate the BMR:

Males: 66 + ( 6.23 * Weight ) + ( 12.7 * Height ) - ( 6.8 * Age )
Females: 655 + ( 4.35 * Weight ) + ( 4.7 * Height ) - ( 4.7 * Age )
