How to make your dreams come true? -make it a reality.

Updated on August 30, 2013

The power of belief.

Believe in yourself, and the rest will fall into place. Have faith in your own abilities, work hard, and there is nothing you cannot accomplish.’ –Brad Henry

Let us start with a question and answer session!

  • Many of you have dreams about your life, don’t you?

‘Yes, I invariably dream of my success in life.’

  • Why is it you have to dream of success always?

Whoever wants to dream of defeat and failure?

  • Then why is it you do not achieve great success and almost always lead a life of the routine and the mundane.

‘I dream of success, but I do not know how to achieve it.’

What do you gauge from this questionnaire? You have dreams, but you are unable to achieve it. You think you are unlucky because your dreams remain a pipe dream. Do you know that the fault lies with you? You have aimless dreams, completely off target and your dream is an imaginary hallucination of having success in a platter.

  • So my dreams will not realize without work on my part?

Yes! You need a dream to motivate you to succeed in life, but the other side of your dream is focus and hard work. The sad thing is that most of you dream of success to happen on its own. You will be disappointed when your life never undergoes any positive changes and your success lurks in a far away distance.

  • Why is it so?

It is because you have a feeble dream about your life.

  • Why is my dream feeble and weak?

It is because you do not have a back up of meticulous planning, no focused target and no assertive actions to make your dream come true.

  • What should I do to make my dream come true?

You should believe in you.

What does ‘believing in you’ mean? It is the absolute trust you have in your capacity to overcome hurdles to achieve your aim. Look at these qualities!

  • I can do anything with verve and enthusiasm.
  • I am capable of working relentlessly towards my goal.
  • No defeat or failure can make me deviate from my goal.
  • My dream never gets blurred when my success is delayed.
  • I will make the impossible possible.

Do you have these qualities? The absolute trust you place in yourself should be unwavering and dogged. Failure might taunt to deter you, but you should never let go.

‘First, do enough training. Then believe in yourself and say: I can do it. Tomorrow is my day. And then say: the person in front of me, he is just a human being as well; he has two legs, I have two legs that is all. That is mentally how you prepare.’ – Halie Gebrselassie

You should not be overpowered by inferiority complex when you see successful people. They are after all as human as you and there is no need to look at them in awe. You should forgo certain negative qualities of yours to realize your dream.

  • Never think that success is easy.
  • Never have hazy dreams as it will not realize.
  • Do not ignore the warning signals of your negative performance.
  • Do not be impatient, hasty and impulsive.

Your dreams will not come true if you do not have a plan. Your dream should be pencil sharp, vivid and vibrant. You want to get rich and successful, but it needs specific focus to make it a reality.

Shall we see an example! Your aim is to be a great actor. Just wanting to be an actor is not a vivid dream. You are off the mark, as acting has many fields. What is your stronghold? Is it action, comedy or melodrama? You must focus on your strong point and improvise your talent. Charlie Chaplin was a legend in comedy. He could not have been an action hero. So he improvised his comic talent and he is still talked about in his field.

Do you dream to be a sports man? Just aiming to be a sportsman is not a focused enough dream. There are a plethora of sports and you have not chosen your field. You are lacking in direction. ‘I want to be a cricketer’. Well, now your dream is taking shape, but still it is off target. ‘I want to be a fast bowler’. Now you are right on target. Your dream now has a focus, a shape and an aim. It now becomes easy for you to walk firmly toward your target as you have a plan.

Making your dream come true is like a director making a movie. He has a story, scene sequences, a climax, apt actors and interesting directorial touches to make it worth watching. If he starts a movie without a plan, he will not be making a movie but wasting film rolls. It is the same in your life also. Your dream should be focused with a plan and with added work on your part; it becomes natural for you to make it a reality.

Mathi, your topic was the topic of a sermon I listened to last weekend. You're right on the ball. Of course, the preacher added trust in God; we need supernatural help after all our planning.
