How to treat otitis in a natural way

Updated on October 18, 2011

Otitis is an annoying condition, that does not be neglected. When the earache strikes you, the first remedies that are recommended are the anti-inflammatory and antibiotics. But in the past there were other and far more simple treatments taken. I will try to give you a traditional remedy effective against otitis.
This remedy is effective in all cases where the disease has not been neglected (i.e., not particularly serious), and joins anti-inflammatory qualities to antibiotic qualities. Take a piece of cotton wool well pressed in your hands and put it in a teaspoon of castor oil.
Once the castor oil has been completely absorbed by the cotton, take a saucepan and put it on fire for a couple of minutes. When the bottom is hot, put the cotton in. Completed this task, grab the cotton and put it in contact with the ear (do not toss it in your ear, put it on the outside, in contact with the pavilion and the beginning of the ear).
The warmth and the softening properties of castor oil will facilitate the process of the otitis' treatment. A good integrated cure can be given by the inhalation of fumesof camomile and boiling water, especially in cases where the source of the disease has catarrhal nature. Repeat when necessary, the trouble will pass soon.

Hi! Good info n thanks for sharing. As an individual who is deaf in one ear and very little hearing left in the other, I am one who is extremly cautious in caring and treating ear problems. This remedy sounds interesting and one I will discuss with my doctor. Thankyou and blessings

Very interesting hub. I believe that way too many antibiotics are prescribed for this condition.

An easy way to introduce the benefits of oil to the ear- i think it is a good idea to avoid anti bioitics as much as possible, until you are really ill.

Very often the old, tried and true remedies are the best and don't have nasty side-effects, either. an interesting hub.
