Humorous Quotes about Stress
Ahh stress, where would we be without thee?
Some people claim that the human race has never been so stressed as today, despite all our mod-cons. Well let's laugh in the face of stress, live for today and remember things aren't always as bad as they seem, with these funny quotes about stress...
"When I look back on all these worries, I remember the story of the old man who said on his deathbed that he had had a lot of trouble in his life, most of which had never happened."~ Winston Churchill
Most of us worry about things before they even happen and many of those things never do happen! Don't waste energy thinking 'What if?' on a situation and trying to predict what's to come. Most of the time what we anticipate is no way near as bad as what does actually happen. React to things as they happen with logic and calm~ this will cut out a huge chunk of stress from your life.
Stressed spelled backwards is desserts. Coincidence? I think not! ~Unknown
"There must be quite a few things that a hot bath won't cure, but I don't know many of them." ~Sylvia Plath
“We must have a pie. Stress cannot exist in the presence of a pie.” ~ David Mamet, Boston Marriage
"If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."~ Doug Larson
Take time to enjoy the small pleasures of life, they can make all the difference to your stress levels. Life is meant to be lived, not raced through in the hope of being fit enough to enjoy yourself when you retire.
"Exercise relieves stress. Nothing relieves exercise." ~Takayuki Ikkaku, Arisa Hosaka and Toshihiro Kawabata
"At the worst, a house unkept cannot be so distressing as a life unlived." ~ Dame Rose Macaulay
"Stress is nothing more than a socially acceptable form of mental illness." ~ Richard Carlson
Prolonged stress can cause emotional and physical health problems. Resentment at not living the life you want and accepting other people's worries and demands will build up. Eventually your mind or body will let you know, in no uncertain terms, that it will not take any more. Look after yourself now and you'll reap the rewards now and later.
Make Time For You
“The only difference between a rut and a grave are the dimensions.” ~Ellen Glasgow
There is no benefit to being stuck in a rut. Life is short enough as it is, so make the most of the time you have. Do something new every day~ it will make life more interesting and make you feel more alive.
"The time to relax is when you don't have time for it." ~Jim Goodwin
Is everything you do really so important, that you don't have time to actually enjoy being here and now? Make time to relax and do what makes you feel good~ otherwise what's the point?
"Half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save."~ Will Rogers, Autobiography, 1949
"Slow down and everything you are chasing will come around and catch you." ~John De Paola
I have experienced this first-hand. Take simple actions towards your goals every day, but stop chasing everything you think you need. Ask yourself 'What do I really want?'~ more often than not it's not what we expect and doesn't have anything to do with chasing weath and status. Enjoy what you already have and things will work out well naturally.
"Don't underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can't hear, and not bothering." ~ Pooh's Little Instruction Book
"The mark of a successful man is one that has spent an entire day on the bank of a river without feeling guilty about it." ~ Unknown
"There's never enough time to do all the nothing you want." ~ Bill Watterson, Calvin and Hobbes
Taking time out to just relax, do nothing, or meditate is actually very important for good health and can help you be more productive. Relaxing and playing for the pure pleasure of it, puts your thoughts in order, puts things in perspective and helps you find solutions to challenges with fresh eyes.
