Food-Grade Hydrogen Peroxide

Updated on December 20, 2012

Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen Peroxide [H2O2] is commonly used in most households as a topical cleanser. I remember many times skinning my knees or toes as a child, and Mom would press a cloth soaked in hydrogen peroxide against the wound; the bubbling and fizzing action let you know the bacteria were being annihilated. Standard to the first-aid kit, many aren’t aware of its other beneficial properties.

In the mainstream medical community, hydrogen peroxide is not often used as an alternative treatment. The American Cancer Society claims there is no scientific evidence that hydrogen peroxide is a safe, effective or useful cancer treatment. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that hydrogen peroxide solutions concentrated above 10% are toxic. It can be harmful to breathe vapors, ingest or have skin contact with hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide ingestion can also result in chemical burns to the throat and severe poisoning.

Alternative Therapies

Other physicians, however, have independently discovered useful treatments for some types of cancer, arthritis, coronary heart disease, arterial circulation disorders, colitis, gum diseases and assorted children's diseases, using food-grade hydrogen peroxide. In fact, in alternative medicine H2O2 has been used to harden the arteries, temporal arteritis, shingles, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, candida [yeast] syndrome, various viral infections; including AIDS; certain forms of cancer, dental gum diseases, colds (35% H2O2 in cold humidifier), growing better food, purifying water without chlorine complications, increasing thyroid activity, arthritis, depression, emphysema, lupus erythematosis, multiple sclerosis… the list goes on.

There are many independent studies that show hydrogen peroxide stimulates the immune system, kills a dozen different pathogenic bacteria, many types of viruses, yeast and fungi. Most doctors agree the hydrogen peroxide you can get from a pharmacy is not of a high enough concentration to be beneficial taken as therapy. In fact, because of its low grade, it is not recommended to ingest this type of hydrogen peroxide. An article on the Arthritis Trust of America’s website cites Dr. Farr as using 30% food-grade hydrogen peroxide, which is then diluted with sterile distilled water to make a 15% stock solution, which is then further purified. Dr. Farr does not recommend ingesting hydrogen peroxide orally, feeling that free-radicals may be produced with the introduction of H2O2 to the stomach.

Natural or Not

Hydrogen peroxide is a naturally occurring substance in the body; cells produce it to help eradicate viral, fungal and bacterial infections. Hydrogen peroxide also aids membrane transport, acts as a hormonal messenger, regulates thermogenesis [heat production], stimulates and regulates immune functions, regulates energy production and many other important metabolic functions.

Recently, my cousin told me about chronic systemic candidiasis. Candida species are fungi that represent the most common fungal pathogens that affect humans. As with most fungal infections, defects carried by the host play a significant role in the development of candida infections; such as diabetes mellitus, corticosteroids, and HIV infection.

After much personal research, my cousin decided to purchase LiquiDaily Oxy Aloe Flush Kit from Phoenix Nutritionals. After only a week, she noticed results; after less than a month, the results were compounded. Her menstrual cycle regulated, skin acquired more luminescence and scars started to fade dramatically, her gums started to improve and started growing back over her teeth (periodontal disease), which she was told would never happen; sleep patterns have regulated and upon waking feel more restful, working out is easier with next to no muscle fatigue, energy levels skyrocketed, and her attention and focus have increased. Here’s the kicker; a mother of two, even though the children have been sick, she has not.

Her experience alone has prompted me to research and write this article; in fact, I’ll be trying this cleanse myself soon. If my research can help even one person find the relief they are looking for, I’ll have done my job.
