The lumbar puncture to administer the first of 4 INTHRATHECAL METHOTREXCETE to protect spinal cord and brain, following the news that the T-Cell Lymphoma had given in to CHOP treatment, took place, as readers of LYMPH/4 will know on Tuesday and was not an uncomfortable experience happily.

At the time, I was told that I may experience headaches etc later in the day, and was pleased not to get them.However on Wednesday, I had to attend a funeral and at the after gathering, felt tired and returned home to sleep for 30 mins. On waking, I was immediately aware of what I will term, unusual activity in my skull! It was not headache as such but more an effect of something not met before having taken up residence. Coughing to clear the throat then brought on clear headache types symptoms as my energy levels dropped and the tingle in my finger ends increased somewhat.

The rest of the day followed that pattern as I dozed off intermittently. Next day was a repeat of low energy and a desire to sleep, punctuated with the headache symptoms which lessened towards bedtime and seemed to pass from left to right of the brain. Again today, symptoms are still in attendance and energy low compared to usual.The fact that these possibilities were explained at Hospital is reassuring for I have not had such symptoms before and will be pleased when they finally subside. I Have also now had 3 of 5 injections for immune system boost since the lumbar and happily no problems. It seems a case of just being patient and accepting that the current position exists to prevent worse in the future, even though it has ruined my exercise regime.

The varied nature of treatment requires a Medical Secretary to keep tracks these days, a role my wife fills excellently. Thus, I Now have the next month spelt out for me as follows:

1. Nov 25. BLOOD TEST.

2.Nov 26 CHOP 6 {Final Chop}

3 Dec 1 Immune System Injections. Final 5.

4.Dec 7 LUMBAR PUNCTURE No 2 of 4.

To be subsequently arranged.

As was said recently, it is a good job the Chop has worked or it would be a full time job! At the same time it serves to underline the top quality of Treatment and Care received for which full gratitude is rightly and properly due, and given. The schedule above shows the planning and thoroughness that the Hospital continues to in vest in me thankfully.
