PREDNISOLONE is a steroid medicine that I first recall back in the 1970"s being prescribed to my father for his Asthma. In those days they were small round tablets which he took in numbers decreasing daily from 8 to 1 and then again if his symptoms returned. I recall my Doctor telling me they had side effects and to steer clear as a younger man.

Subsequently the term STEROID has become linked to performance enhancing drugs in sport and a bete noir as a result. Little learning is a dangerous thing for steroid treatment has very beneficial effects when prescribed for the correct reasons and with the correct steroid used.

The role of PREDNISOLONE in the treatment is to assist the energy and well being of the patient whilst the other drugs are operational

Excellent information on Prednisolone and the role it plays can be had from at no charge and the details are very helpful and comprehensive to the new user, for effects, as ever, vary from patient to patient.I am fortunate in having no bad side effects to date and Prednisolone in CHOP14, my treatment, consists of 4 medium round shaped tablets taken for only the first 5 days of each 14 day cycle. Thus, effects for sure are those I am aware of from personal experience and they certainly lift energy levels and sense of well being and aid the PMA factor, so important in backing up medical treatment. The drug assists reducing inflammation in the body which alternatively makes conditions worse and also assists in resisting attacks from the body"s own immune system which can occur if things get out of balance. I know this to be true from the resistance I have seen when the immune system boosters have been injected to me{6 every 14 days on my programme}.As with all drugs it is vital not to deviate from the prescribed dose for maximum benefit, though on later days in the cycle of 14, you can think it attractive to take more, but this must be resisted unless authorised by the medics.

Prednisolone can, and is used to treat a variety of conditions, so prescription need not mean that the patient has Lymphoma, inflammation of muscles, anaemia, skin and kidney problems and ulcerative colitis of the bowel are listed examples. For me, they continue their important role in my cocktail of treatment, part of our Army against the invader.

Today is a top PMA day for me personally in our battle. From the desperate days of 10st 9 lbs, I have reached a personal PMA target and scaled 12 st 0.75 lbs this morning. Another step along the personal path and as it happens Day 5 and last of CHOP 3 Prednisolone. Thanks fellows, see you at CHOP4 on Oct 27!
