Finding our own good fortune ....

Updated on November 30, 2015

Start attracting good luck !! .. Lets start activating the 'Luck Mantra' by taking control of our conscious mind. Obviously many of us have trouble being positive, but cultivating happy thoughts can direct you to luck , happiness and fortune !! Its all about counting our blessings.

Most of us who are accessing this material is lucky in many ways because we were not born 'unlucky'. Most are not born like Oliver Twist from an extreme poor family. We are just from normal families and choose paths in decision making ..

Every now and then, when we feel down or like a failure just take a moment and find our own good fortune. We have forgotten our 'Good Fortunes' because we allow negative vibrations to overflow and drown our thoughts.

Everyday, every hour, every minute and every second something special happens to us. Counting our blessings is a good way to fight negative energy.

God gave a loaf to every bird by Emily Dickinson

God gave a loaf to every bird,

But just a crumb to me;

I dare not eat it, though I starve,--

My poignant luxury

To own it, touch it, prove the feat

That made the pellet mine,--

Too happy in my sparrow chance

For ampler coveting.

It might be famine all around,

I could not miss an ear,

Such plenty smiles upon my board,

My garner shows so fair.

I wonder how the rich may feel,--

An Indiaman--an Earl?

I deem that I with but a crumb

Am sovereign of them all.

Basically when we start developing our sincere 'gratitude' we will realize how much 'fortune' we already have in our life. Many times we forget to notice those simple things in life that we take for granted.

We have actually failed to appreciate what we have. Look around and we can find so many gifts that we should be fortunate to have. Some natural occurrence in our life is way much better than others who do not have them at all.

I have not been that wise. Health I have taken for granted. Love I have demanded, perhaps too much and too often. As for money, I have only realized its true worth when I didn't have it.

— Hedy Lamarr

Think Simple

By thinking simple in life, we can find many things that are 'Fortune' to us. Starting from our self and our physics we can realize how fortunate we are to have been born with all our physical attributes in order.

Taking a walk in the park, we can see and smell the beauty of nature, a simple thing that we seldom have time to appreciate.

Visit an orphanage and we can realize how fortunate we are to have the group of people called 'Family' attending to our needs and wants.

Cuddling on the bed with our children or even pets we forget that some people go without place called home in their life

Do we realize how fortunate our life is ??

Fun Time

This is just a reminder of some fun times that we may have forgotten. Those fun moments were all our 'fortunes'. Unwrap those great memories.

  1. Playing soccer or football with friends
  2. Watching interesting movies
  3. Celebrating birthdays
  4. Festive seasons like Christmas
  5. Clubbing and dancing
  6. Listening to songs and music

Well the list can get longer, you can just take some time to jot your own.

This are all the fortunate moments in our life, as I said earlier, we have taken them for granted that we forgot to appreciate them as fortunes.

Listen to the Classic song 'Happy Days' and recall those memorie

Right Path

Life is all about paths. For me right path is when we lead a life filled with qualities (Values, Moral and Ethics).

Qualities with the definition as per

  • values (Sociology. the ideals, customs, institutions, etc., of a society toward which the people of the group have an affective regard. These values may be positive, as cleanliness, freedom, or education, or negative, as cruelty, crime, or blasphemy.)
  • moral (of, relating to, or concerned with the principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction between right and wrong; ethical:)
  • ethics (that branch of philosophy dealing with values relating to human conduct, with respect to the rightness and wrongness of certain actions and to the goodness and badness of the motives and ends of such actions.)

Choice of path is very individual, for most of us we have been guided by our elders as well as teachers to move on the right path.

Feel blessed that we were directed to the right path and even if we are not, it is never too late to change.

Sometimes we do make bad decisions due to circumstances. but do not feel dicouraged, lets move on. You can start taking Baby Steps into a better you !! Acknowledge the fact that we have faults and start creating a new life around it.

This could be your 'good fortune' for a better and improved life. Fill it with Fun, Pleasure and Happiness.

Practicing Appreciation

This is an elaboration of Gratitude, When we start appreciating what we have for example , roof on our head or food on our table we will start noticing that we are truly gifted. Ever wondered how the poor lives.

Most of our life has been way better then other people

  • Some people have none.
  • Some people have very little.
  • Some people are contended with what they already have they neither appreciate or look for self improvement.
  • Some people failed in something and not motivated to get up again
  • No inspiration or motivation in life.

For some in a controlled environment especially the ladies find it difficult to have a life of their own or even to fulfill their desires. Remember Malala Yousafzai an inspiration for young woman all around the world

Most people are so engrossed in their 'commitments' that they miss many thing in their life. They study, get a job, get married, start family, earn for family, feed and educate next generation, get old, get sick ... gone are their ventures and dreams.

So what is stopping us from being appreciative of the gifts in our life.

What is on your gratitude list today

Lets get up and start our own list of the 'FORTUNES' that we had, have and will work towards.

Plant Good Thought can guide you in get your list started. Soon I will put up another hub just listing all the fortunes that we have not noticed in this ever so busy life.
